Need help finding side charging BCG

I'm building a 6x6.8 using a 18" X-Caliber barrel and a BCA side charging upper. I'm now trying to hunt down a Nickel Boron coated side charging BCG. I'm sure I could have a regular bcg modified, but I hate the looks of that, especially the serrations.

Young Manufacturing makes a chrome side charging bolt carrier.
Eisenach Arms makes a Nib side charging bolt carrier
Both of these are in the $200.00 range and do not include the bolt. Not sure of the availability of these either.
Most of the other side charging bolt carriers I have seen are Nitride finished.

About two years ago there were some stripped Nib bolt carriers available from an online sales that had old new stock from LAR and Davidson Defense.
I got a few of them back then. but have not seen any come up for sale since. Some of these had forward assist serrations, none had the dust cover cut out though.

Thanks,
Glenn

To be honest I have not heard of any issues like that with the BCA right hand side charging uppers. But it could be a possibility.
I know there can be issues with compatibility on certain ambi uppers and side charging bolt carrier mixing.
There have been issues with handle shafts being too short when using BCA side charging bolt carriers with different side charging uppers like Eisenach, CMT and Young, if I remember correctly.
These uppers have thicker sidewalls. They need a handle with a longer shank.

BCA handle; top. Davidson Defense; center. ADK; bottom. You can see how much longer the shaft is on the ADK compared to the other two.

One of my 6.8 SPC right hand side charging AR's is a mix of a BCA upper matched with an old new stock LAR NIB bolt carrier.

Of course the obligatory picture. :a26:

Thanks Glenn,
I thought the only one thicker than the BCA was the MEGA and other names for it.
The BCG issue I thought I had read about was alignment with the rear cut for the handle travel.
But if it's not an issue then cool.

Thanks,
Glenn

and my obligatory picture :)

You may have read something.
Lantac makes an unusual side charging bolt carrier that may not line up with the BCA's(or others) upper charging cut.
I do like those side chargers you have. Top one looks different with the ball style charging handle and gas block close to the end of the barrel.
There have been a few companies that have made, or make side charging components, it is hard to keep up with them all.

Thanks
Glenn

Truthfully you can buy a BCA side charging upper and bolt combo for the price of one of those Nib bolt carriers alone.
Regardless of what bolt carrier you end up getting. Look forward to see what you put together.

Thanks,
Glenn

It looks like you've decided you want to go with the reciprocating handle. When I built my last one I decided on a left side charge non reciprocating and I really like the spartan I got. The received is spendy, but you can use any carrier you want.

I'm running the Spartan/NFA on my 9mm. For that it's perfect. But for a hunting rifle, I'd prefer to be able to close the bolt slowly and quietly. When hunting, I'll ride the bcg with the charging handle and then use the forward assist to lock the bolt home. Knock on wood, it's worked great for me.

I ended up with a BCA handle mushrooming and the screw was getting real close to interfering with the bolt.
Probably from pulling stickages or a soft handle.

Contacted BCA but no reply. So I took the bad one turned it down and flared it into a stepped hole in a 1/2" round bar (used to be round).
Using a 5/16" end mill countersunk a 1/2" long 10-32 drill bushing about 1/4" into the handle.

Pull angle is better and seems to be strong enough. Not as pretty as the Lantac, but cheaper.

As a option have you thought about the Devil Dogs Concepts Hard charger? The only reason I bring this up is Because my current build I am piecing together is on a Fightlite lower. It has a proprietary bolt and some of the side chargers had modifications that needed to be done on it to get it to work.
