Have been watching for a 6.8 SPC Bolt rifle knowing that there are some really nice ones out there by Remington and Savage from back in the day, probably many more options and saw this sell for 1700.00!

I know they come up with a new caliber/cartridge monthly and that the 6.8 SPC, while still well supported by ammo manufacturers and AR-Platform riflemakers, has been discontinued across the board in Bolt Action rifles but there is a demand out there.

I love the wooden stock. It could be a re-barrel or custom built order from Savage. The details aren’t visible to me. That rifle is not at all far off from what I really want.

A few years ago I had Savage custom build a rifle. They told me at the time, they still have the tooling from all cartridges they have ever made rifles in. They could make a bolt action rifle in any configuration. While my experience wasn’t the best, I’ve been thinking about giving Savage a call to see if they would put together a 6.8 the way I want one built.

Shaw makes good barrels. I take it, that it's a 1:10 twist. Curious about the weight The contour on yours looks stout enough for most any kind of shooting. The Remington 783 I'm working on is a bit on the heavy side. Field ready it was around 10 lbs with the 18" ARP when I put it together after stiffening the fore-end and installing the Timney trigger.

There is something about building your own by hand. However, sometimes I just want to go buy it off the shelf already made. Any manufacturer that has made 224 Valkyrie or 400 Legend is only a barrel away from a rifle ready to sell.

The easiest thing for a great little deer rifle is to get a 20” 6.8 SPC II Encore barrel. Very short and easy to carry in the woods. Could even go custom 16 or 18”.

Wow, I didn’t know you can even get them for a Contender G2.

As far as I know, Savage never made a bolt action in 6.8 SPC. However, they have/do make a MSR in 6.8SPC. If Savage made the MSR barrel, they already have all the tooling for complete rifles.

You may be right. I saw this once: ARMSLIST - For Sale: 6.8 SPC Bolt

I imagine it could be a re-barrel special. In any case, I would guess that 6.8 could sell as well as 6.5G and 6ARC. They all put nearly the same energy down as the limiting factor is OAL, no one is really shooting these rifles at 800 yards and there is nothing but good things to say about .277 bullet performance plus the fact that 6.8 SPC LOVES 16" barrels and the others, well....

The 6.8SPC shines with the 16” barrels over the 6.5G.
