I am assuming based off the type of dents I've seen since there aren't any pics. But that's a pretty common AR thing

6.8VA - if you are reloading, as long as the dents are not sharp creases, it will not be a problem.

 

I have always wondered where the line is as to "too" deep. I wouldn't call them dents, more like dings.

 

What about this? This is a round I caught before loading into the mag. This is brand new SSA bulk 115 OTM. Only one like this, but I have never seen factory ammo like this. Maybe because I usually only bought 20 rds at a time. Think quality control should have caught it or par for the course?

 

I would not classify that as a ding or a dent but a total car accident!I would not load that one in any of my weapons unless it was my last bullet and it was needed to save a life.

 

Plus one on this. DO NOT USE!

 

I also had 2 bushmasters that did the same thing. Bushmaster recommended that I take the ejector spring and cut off half a curl to solve the prob. Since it was new I just sent it back to them and it came back shooting fine. Also had a 5.56 that did the same but it smoothed out after about 100 rds. Maybe it's just a weird Bushmaster thing?

 

My Bushmaster .308 beats my brass up pretty bad. All ARs do it. But Bushmaster rifles even more so.

 

You can also put a piece of velcro soft side on the shell deflector.

 

Or tune your rifle through change of buffer weight and spring.
