Has anyone tried the target sports usa apex 6.8 spc 112 grain hp controlled chaos ammo?

I don't believe I have heard of this one. I wonder how well it works.

Its easy to make a monolithic bullet that comes apart. The hard part is making one that stays together.
You lose petals you lose weight and penetration. Sectional density is lost.

I’m not a big fan of projectiles that separate. I would rather have a bullet that mushrooms, keeps most of its mass but one that also penetrates well.

I have a tendency to agree with you on this. However if it is an effective bullet, then it may be worth looking at. I'm not sure I would use it on food animals so much as pestilent critters. Don't have to search for the petals.

I tried this round out last Friday and it was short stroking.Loaded up some Hornady factory ammo and had no problem.Pulled the bullets out of the Apex rounds and found powder charges to range from 24.3 gn to 27. Most were 24.8 to 25.Powder is some kind of flat ball powder similar in looks to aa2200 but grains about half the size.Going to try 27 to 28 gn of aa2200.
