As stated... I see a lot of folks going longer than mag length, but what's the best you've gotten with the 2.26 mag length? Must be 2.26 max as these will be run from Barrett mags. Hornady factory at around 2.23 is 2460 out of a 16" barrel. I have noticed is it hard to beat their speeds even with handloads, but I'm sure some of us have. I know some of it has to do with proprietary powders and such but this group is crafty. Thanks in advance!

I'm a little short of 2.260". I seat them at 2.250" to give the rounds a little 'wiggle room' in the magazine.

27.5 grains AA2200

1.5", 5-shot group at 200 yds.

2390 fps out of a Wilson 11.3" bbl

Thanks... you wouldn't happen to know what you're getting out of a 16" barrel with that by chance?

Thanks for the reply - any others that might be running 16" barrels and have some info?

16" ARP scout 120 SST 2.260 CCI 41, SSA once fired brass 3 thou shoulder bump, light LFC. loads tested at 85 degF and 300 ft elev
27.2 gr AA2200 2450
27.5 gr AA2200 2480
27.5 was showing swipes in warm temps (85 deg) prob fine for colder weather
per xmans testing this load will lose velocity in colder weather.

The writing on the target is me recording the results of another ladder.

This target was 9 shots .3 grain difference. I had stopped at 27.2 gr. If you superimpose the 27.5 target on here it's all within 1" from 26.9 to 27.5 gr. My only beef with 2200 is it's temp instability. As long as you have a big enough node where you won't drop out of it if you lose 40-50 fps in colder weather your good.

Yes

I don't bother reloading 120sst, as factory loads clock @ 2530 from my 16" arp melonite 5r scout here at 6500msl. They shoot right about 1moa too

I know I ran some factory through the chrono but don't have any notes. I want to say it was low 2500 ish at sea level. They shot about moa maybe a little more. My reloads shoot better and are about 1/2 the cost.
