I found out AFTER I ordered a bolt carrier last night that it is for full auto. I ordered it from Midwayusa. It didnt say it on the webpage when I ordered it. There is some feedback from someone this morning on the webpage saying that it is a full auto carrier group. Will it work?? I am putting together a semi auto gun.

A full auto bolt carrier is heavier than a AR15 bolt carrier...but it will work.

Just be CERTAIN that you do NOT have a full auto selector or disconnecter in your possession.

The full auto carrier buy itself is legal to own and use in your 6.8

Possession or installation of the other full auto fire control parts puts you in violation of the law, if lacking proper registration. It would be deemed "intent" by the ATF to build an illegal full auto weapon.

Welcome aboard. A moderator will have to delete the other thread, which they may or may not do. DOnt worry about it though thins are pretty e easy going around here. As for the answer to your question, a Full auto Carrier should work fine in a semi-auto AR. Its got a little more metal than a semi carrier, which increases the weight and will slow the dwell time. If you gun is over gassed, which a lot of them are, the heavier carrier will actually even that out and cause it to run better. As for the legalities, you wont have a problem as long as you dont have an illegal Auto-sear for the BCG to trip.

Cruciantime, welcome aboard and Go Gators. PM me if you don't already have a range in Gainesville; I could give you a couple suggestions if you're looking.

Sorry for the thread hijack--

I think the FA carrier is also better at resisting carrier tilt because there is more bearing surface on the critical lower rear portion.

I believe all the Xtremes come with them, at least mine did...

I finally got to shoot this build for the first time yesterday. Man it was fun. This was the first time I had put anything together and it worked!! Thanks for the replies about the carrier. The gun was ejecting the brass at about three to four oclock range and five to six feet away. Not a single problem.

OOps. This particular gun is going to be 5.56. I've been reading through this forum for awhile so i thought i would ask the question here?
Honestly, I do that a lot just because the quality of the answers are a lot higher here than on most forums. There's a lot more signal to noise ratio here compared to some of the larger forums.
