WOO HOO!!! I'm at the point of decision (again)...

All my AR builds are now what I call, "runners". Meaning, each firearm meets all the minimum requirements for a fully functioning gun and can be shot "productively". They are all mechanically complete, can chamber and fire ammunition and have some form of aiming device(s). That said, they all could use some "refinement" to bring them to "complete" status.

The "big ticket" items that remain to be added are optics/mounts for two rifles that, as of this writing, only have BUIS installed. After those are taken care of, only various "support" items will be needed (slings/mounts, VFG's, mags, tacticool doo-dads, fun gizmos... ) As well as a minor restocking of my "spares" box.

Do you think I should go ahead and finish off the "big ticket" items (optics) first? Or concentrate on increasing supply of the small, "R&R" parts for the "spares" box? How should I prioritize my next round of purchases?

In my opinion I would roll with mags first and then slings second. From there I would hit the spares then the optics. BUT thats me, I'm very comfortable with irons.

So basically it takes the ones that shoot but are not field guns yet and puts them into field gun status. Plus you'll be more apt to grab them and go shoot with them. Now for the mags that question just answers itself. You can never have too many mags.

Ammo..Ammo...Ammo...!!

The price of spares and optics are relatively stable. Ammo prices continue to reach new records weekly. Get all the ammo you can afford NOW! I predict that before the end of this year a 1,000 rds of .556 ammo will cost more than your average .556 AR rifle...

After ammo focus on reloading equipment and components because they are also on the same ammo fast track to sky high values. Primers are a good example. Nearly no availability but prices are just starting to move. Buy anything you need or THINK you will need to keep your ammo replenishment going. Take advantage of every "in stock" opportunity.

The spare bolts and optics can come much later.

Paulo... I am shocked!! You of all people pushing for optics??!! That "package" would consist of a Accupoint 3-9 with the mil-dot with a Larue mount. And a DMS-1 for use with an existing mount.

A few more details...

For spares: I basically have enough in stock to build one complete lower. As well as one complete BCG. I do need two bolts. One for the 6.8's and another for the 5.56's. Not to many upper parts "in stock". Are there any items that I absolutely MUST have?

Mags: Current inventory is (6) mags for each rifle. With a few more on the way for the 5.56's. I could used a few more for the 6.8's. Or just more in general!!

Ammo: I'm at a "comfortable" level with both calibers. However, I am reloading as supplies permit. I have enough "stuff" to reload +/- 500 rounds for each... Stock will be added to continually as finances or availability permit. Primers and powder ar getting tough!!

Slings/Misc: With the QD points already on most of the guns, my two slings can be interchanged between all the guns. I just find it easier to have dedicated support gear for each gun...
