I shot my 6.8 last weekend for the first time and it was awesome(I've had it for a few months). Anyway I was shooting SSA 110gr Pro Hunters and they shoot a very small 5rd hole in the paper that you could cover with a nickle at 50yrd's (after 3 shoots to sight in the Nikon 3x9 scope)and I'm looking to duplicate this rd since it shot so well and no pressure signs in my first gen. DPMS 1/10 SAAMI chamber. I don't care to load hot Rd's if it shoots this good with the SAMMI chamber. So I am wondering to what speed and pressure are the regular Pro Hunter loads loaded to and which combo of powder and primers will get me there. I have on hand H322, H335, Benchmark and CCI #41, 400, & Rem 7 1/2 primers to work with, along with all the other necessary loading equip.

Thanks,
EWP

Sea uses CCI #41 primers and the velocities are around 2450 FPS out of aa 16" barrel. All three of those powders l work very well.
28.5 GR of H322.
29 GR of Benchmark and H335.
Those should match up very well to the SSA load.

I loaded some 110gr AccuBonds in the OF SSA brass I had with Rem 7 1/2 primers and 28gr of H322 to test since I have them and 100 110gr Hornady BTHP's to work with right now while I find some 110gr Pro Hunters to start loading.

Are the Rem 7 1/2 Mag. primers or are the just regular BR primers like the CCI BR4's?

28.5 of h322 shot nice groups. I didn't get to shoot it through the chronograph. I'm going to try out some more 10x loads tomorrow. I was having a little issue with pressure because of over crimping. I'm still debating if I'm going to hunt with h322 or 10x loads, both shoot well. I'm leaning toward the h322 because of the temperature sensitivity.

Does bullets that have a connular like the Nosler Accubonds have to be loaded and crimped at the groove or can they be loaded longer than the groove?

I loaded these test loads today down to were the groove was barely in the case mouth(2.255") and lightly crimped them with a Lee FCD because I wasn't sure if I could load them long (2.30") and crimp below the connular or not, is that OK or do they have to be loaded short?

That's good to know, so I can load them to mag length of 2.30" since I use a PRI mag for my 6.8.

Does anyone know if the SAAMI chamber DPMS uses tight enough to use a OAL gauge or does it have to much throat like the 5.56 chamber and it does no good to bother because the measured OAL is way beyond mag length?

You can use the OAL Gauge. Some bullets will be close to the lands in a SAAMI chamber.
You also don't have to load the bullets to the cannelures. You can load longer.

Should I still be crimping the bullets even though they are not at the cannelures if I load them long or is neck tension enough to hold them in place safely? I have a Lee FCD for crimping.

You do not "need" to crimp if you do want to make sure to use the lightest crimp possible and only then if you are using the Lee FCD. AS for loads:

With a SAAMI 1:10 I think you will find your best accuracy load to be somewhere between 27.5-28.5 grains with COAL between 2.275-2.295.
