I can't seem to find any of the old NFA info after the site got a little make-over this weekend. I want to go ahead and receive an application for a SBR. Which form to I need to get, and where is a good place to look for info on what I need and what I need to do?

L,

You need a form 1. You can get it from the BATFE website by request. You can also go to the site "title II.com," and fill out that and other forms then print them.

You can get all the info you'll need on ARFcom's class 3 section.

Filling out a Form 1 is ridiculously easy. I'll be glad to help you through the process if you want. If you are doing it as an individual, you will need to get a CLEO sign-oiff and fingerprints. If you go the trust or LLC route, you don't need either of these.

Used HTR"s lawyer recommendation and have the trust set up now. Waiting on getting the house stuff settled and moved in so I can get the form/money for the sbr sent.

Hey, which way is the easiest and/or cheapest route to go. I used to have a class with and sat next to a CC police captian. I think the last time I saw him on TV he was listed as Chief, but I am not too sure. Maybe I can locate him so I can a feel as to whether or not I can get the CLEO sig. without any hassel.

I am probably going to wait another pay check or two before I actually send off for it, but I want to go ahead and start getting everything situated.

Well, the least expensive thing would be to go the indiv. route. then you just get CLEO sign-off and prints, and the Form 1 costs nothing but the stamp (to mail) and the $200.
This is the way I did it but....in hinesight I may have been wiser to go the trust route, pros and cons to each. If I ever went to transfer them to a trust I have to pay another 200 per....

I went the trust route for a couple of specific reasons, if not for those reasons I would of just done it normally.

Trust is the easiest and doing the form 2 only is the cheapest. But there are pros and cons to both. I felt the pros for the trust were worth it and I can keep them in the family. Plus not have to mess with the CLEO and prints. Waiting for the house stuff to be done and moved in and then sending off the forms for my sbr:)

I'm not too sure of an attorney to talk to if I decide to go the route of the trust. Maybe I can find whoever HTR had do his (if that is the way he went) and talk to that person. But, I still want to find out if the CLEO will sign off first.
