I have decided on one of these two scopes for my Remington 700 Police Sniper in 308: the US Optics SN-3 T-PAL 5-25x or the Premier Reticle Heritage 5-25x. It is to be used for 500-1200 yard matches.

This decision was based on reviewing alot of reviews and handling some of the scopes personally. These two also were the only ones to offer me a generous military discount (still about $2400 each). There were 8 others in consideration but offered ZERO military discount.

Any comments on the two selections above?? Prefer hands on comments and not friends of a friend of a friend of a friend who stayed in a Holiday Inn comments!!

I haven't shot either you mentioned. I've read good reviews on them. I have shot the Leupold MK4 8.5 to 25 and really like it for long range. 600+ yards.

I don't think your 700p with it's factory barrel will be much of a match to the premier scopes you mentioned. I would invest in a custom barrel and a save a bunch of money. Just my opinion. I shoot 400 to 600 yards quit a bit and the scopes over 10x are aweful to shoot in the summer time. Mirage is terrible.

US optics is what the USMC uses I have a few premier reticle scopes and they are nice. I dont know about thier new stuff though..

I have been looking into a Shilen Select Match barrel. Just read good reviews about them.

Can anyone recommend any competition grade barrel for the Remington 700 in 308??
