So Ive been using a Hornady LnL single stage press for a while. I like it and it does its job well. Anyways it seems like it takes me for ever to load up a couple of hundred rounds and I have been thinking about upgrading.

So I ask is it worth upgrading?

I only load rifles in 223, 6.8, 6.5, 270, 300wsm, and when I load I only load around 50 rounds but sometimes up to 200 on the 223. I might want to load for hand guns in the future but not right now.

What do you say?

I have the Dillon 550 b and reload for the 556 and 68. The Dillon 550b and the Hornady LNL would be my top choices.

I'm also using a LnL single stage. I load a lot of different rifle cals and am considering the Redding Turret press. I would like to go LnL progressive but the powder drop keeps me away from it. For me it comes down to why spend all that time on case prep to not have exact powder drops. I also shoot a lot of rounds in bolt guns near, at, or over max so accurate powder drops are important to me.

Dillon's AT-500 is basically a stripped version of the 550-B. It does not have the primer mechanism. This item is phone order only, they do not list it on the web or in the catalog. If you don't mind priming with a hand primer (I prefer them) in a seperate operation this is a great press. It does everything the 550-B does and can be upraded to a 550-B later on if you wish.

This is a handy set-up if you want to run rifle only on one progressive.

I have both the Dillon XL650 and 550 and a Rock crusher if you are loading any quantity go with a Dillon progressive, top of the line stuff.

I have both the Lee turret and Hornady LNL progressive. If you have the money get the Hornady LNL progressive, keep in mind that the shell plates are around $30 but once you have a few they do overlapp. The Hornady 1000 bullet free deal is a great promotion when you buy their progressive. I still go back to my Lee turret press to do all the prep stuff and only if I need a few rounds like for 45/70 govt. If you plan on shooting more pistol in the future and enjoy reloading go with the Hornady you wont regret it. You can never have too many reloading presses! Get both!
