What is you guys opinion on using the Tubbs Bore system on barrels w/Polygonal Rifling? Will it have the same effect as on barrels w/standard rifling? I have a laure stealth (5.56) coming and I am also trying to get a Noveske bbl (6.8) when/if they ever get back in stock. I have read the previous thread and impressed by how well this seems to work, but I'm just not sure about the effects on the poly barrels.

Thanks in advance.

?

Unless I missed it in that thread, or the huge one on tubbs, I'm not seeing any pros or cons for doing this on a barrel w/polygonal rifling such as Pac Nor, etc. I'm only seeing info for standard rifled barrels. Again, unless I'm missing it.

ETA: Your thread does make a good point of whether any of it is nessacary however...

Noveske and LaRue use high line barrels. I'd probably break them in and see how they shoot without the Tubbs system. That's just me though.

From what I understand, you do not want to run the Tubbs system on excellent quality barrels. Only after the barrel gets old and starts slacking on accuracy, or there are pressure issues with the chroming. You should shoot with that barrel first, and if it shoots better than 1 moa I would not use it. I am going to run the Tubbs through mine, I have had the bullets for a while but just loaded them up last weekend. Went to my ranch to shoot but it was way to [email protected]#!ing windy to do any sort of cleaning out there. The only reason I am going to use them is I have an old Kotonics barrel with a SPCII chamber but 1:9.5 twist that puts way too much pressure out. Also, anything that Paulo and Tim recommend to me to increase performance I will most likely try. They haven't steered me wrong yet.

After reading some here I think I am going to leave mine alone right now. Maybe save them for later. All the times I have used Tubbs was on bolt guns and production ones at that. There was a improvement in accuracy and in cleaning the barrel. Right now though I think I will shoot the Extreme more and see were it goes. On the pics I posted on the range report in the Got my Extreme thread. The last one at 50 was a five shot group and it was basically one hole. If I can get that in the first shooting I think I will leave it for now.

I think I would agree with using Tubbs on rack barrels & Kotonics barrels as they are known for chrome issues. For the Extreme upper, I don't agree with using Tubbs or any other kind of abrasive paste. They are using high quality barrels, Mike Rock I think, with a very good chromer. Unless the chrome has high spots, which they aren't supposed to, I don't see an advantage of polishing with the potential of rounding the rifleing from the abrasive. From the other thread, I would follow Todd's advice from Noveske and steer clear for a Polygon barrel, just clean and shoot. No Break in needed.

Thanks for the reply's guys. I'll just leave them alone, from the sound of it, that would be best. I sometimes get ahead of myself trying to fix things that aren't broken. Thanks again.
