I have difficulty believing that this device is actually 4.5 oz. as Troy and their distributors advertise. Is that a typo on Troy's web site? Does anyone know the true weight? I don't remember seeing it on Rob's fine rail weight chart. Thanks

Speaking of that, anyone know the weight of the SWS 14" rifle rail? Art won't return my emails nor can I find anything on any boards.

The original Troy MRF-M 9" weighes 15oz
Don't have a 9" yet but the 11" weighes 10.4 oz before any rails are added
How does that mount? Is it with the stock barrel nut? If not, does that 10.4 include the nut?
They told us at SHOT it would mount to a standard barrel nut but, when they arrived they have a special alum barrel nut. My guess is they tried in the prototype stage to make it work but could not and had to make these alum nuts and thats why it took an extra 5 months to get the rails.
That weight does include the alum. nut.
You have to be very careful, I tighten it up to 35 lbs then back off about 3-4 times or until I can get the next hole to line up. At 40 lbs the tips of the alum nut bend and stop the tube from sliding over until they are dremeled out of the way.
I am not a fan of aluminum for that use....
I agree,
An Xtreme with a 11" battle rail and magpul MOE stock weighes 6 lbs.
My 20" Sam-R with a 13" battle rail, Leupold MK IV 8-25X scope and a GG&G bipod weighes 10LBs
