thinking of upgrading my RR NM triggers in my 6.8 and 5.56
maybe...
considering going to a "better" adjustable trigger, perhaps a singlestage, perhaps the JARD

my bolt actions I set at 2lbs (sako and Tikka)
neither of my ARs are for defense use.....

recommendations?

I have the Jard 3lb trigger in my 300 Whisper. I like it so far, only shot about 100 rounds through it since I installed it. But it sure is nice compared to a factory pull.

I am thinking about using a JP Enterprises trigger/hammer kit in my next lower build.

Most guys post about upgrading their stock triggers for a two stage like RRA, LMT, etc. Now you want to upgrade your RRA trigger.

Bill Springfield upgrades 2-stage triggers for $35. So he would improve your RRA triggers. Here's the link.

My next two LPK's will have their triggers sent to Bill Springfield. Everyone who has his trigger job loves them. $35 a trigger is cheap compared to replacing a trigger.

If you want to switch them out completely, Geissele and Timney would be two triggers that come to mind.

Ditto on the Bill Springfield Trigger Job. He just finished my 3# trigger job for my Stag 6.8 Lower. I was able to slap on my .223 upper, to test the trigger, and all went well. Great work Bill does, and well worth the $$$ at $50.00

+1 on Bill Springfield. He's done a couple of triggers for me and I'm happy with them. I have a 3# and a 4#.

so, I have been very happy and content with the RR NM triggers

here's why I am asking:

That's what happens when you don't know what you're doing. I turned my first RRA NM into a single stage trigger by polishing the contact surfaces too much (trying to get that oh so slick trigger pull). When I was done, I had a very smooth single stage trigger. I fixed it by filing at the lip that holds the hammer hold back sear, bringing it back up to meet the hammer protrusion and making it two stage again (as the second stage on RRA NM fire control group is achieved by the hammer touching the hammer hold back sear, which is what provides that extra resistance at the end of the pull), but I probably wasted about 1000 cycles trying to make it better. I'm a sucker for modifying things, so when this one wears out I will most likely get another one and do it again (with the advantage of hindsight and better understanding).

I can see myself doing the same thing. I have done "minor" polishing on the contact surfaces but so far I haven't really thrown things off. Once a friend showed me a Bill Springfield trigger, I decided that is definitely $35-50 well spent.

I know you can get a White Oak Armament tuned RRA trigger. They are supposed to be outstanding renditions of RRA triggers. ADCO sells them too.

I've got a DPMS trigger setup sitting around that came out of a LPK. Could I send that to Bill Springfield to be reworked, or does it have to be a higher end trigger? If he could do the DPMS, that would be a pretty low cost option.

Absolutely!! Bill Springfield trigger jobs are most noticeable in standard triggers. Hit his website for details. My next two LPK triggers are going to him. You can search on ARFCOM and find several long threads where shooters are impressed with their Springfield triggers, and some of the guys have thousands of rounds on them which gives you some idea they are reliable.

I might give that a shot on my next lower. I had thought it seemed like a waste to get the trigger parts in the LPK, then put them in a box so I could use a trigger that I bought extra for a bunch of money. Since I've got the trigger parts sitting around I may have that done and waiting for the next lower.

I was looking through the website and that is quite the deal. $40 to get a 4lb trigger and modified to a speed hammer, and return postage paid sounds good to me.

I just ordered 2 4lb's from him, I shot HTR's rifle and liked the trigger.... I wish the timney would work but until I start reloading and use softer primers i will use the 4lb mil trigger.

I have 3 RRA lowers, each with the 2 stage national match trigger. Each trigger is different. Fortunately, the trigger on my Predator Pursuit with the A2 buttstock is by far the best. I would never want to mess with it. The one I have my AR Performance upper on now however, is not near as good. I think I will remove it and send it in to Mr. Springfield to see what he does for it.

Springfield triggers

I have had four trigger groups worked on by Bill Springfield. One is the 3 lb and three are the 4 lb jobs. The 3 lb actually breaks at 2.25 lbs, and will not ignite hard primers, but will set off standard Winchester SR primers. The 4 lb triggers break at 4.5 to 4.75 lbs, and will ignite hard primers. All the triggers are crisp. The best trigger I have is a JP and it breaks at 3.5 lbs and ignites hard primers, but it is $200 installed.

I have been very happy with the RR NM triggers in both my guns
this trigger replacement / perhaps "upgrade" quest has had me doing a lot of research

one thing stands out:
the Geiselle trigger

I don't want to spend almost 300 bucks on the adjustable and am looking for the non adjustable SSA
I think I am going to stick with a 2 stage, I want both of my ARs to have the same trigger type and feel
the SSA should be about like the RR NM but with a crisper break from what I have been reading and perhaps a shorter reset.

If I can't find one I have also sent an email to WOA about a tuned RR NM
