I am looking for a trigger for my 6.8. i put together a 6.8 ar to be my hunting rifle for this coming season. i took it out this past week and sighted it in at 100 yds. I found that my standard trigger is just to heavy for a hunting rifle. I feel i can be more accurate with a lighter trigger. I am using SSA ammo and they use hard primers. I have heard of people having problems with light primer strikes with this ammo and match triggers. Can anybody suggest a good lighter trigger i could use for hunting and not have a problem with light primer strikes. Thanks in advance.

Geissele is the top of the pyramid for AR triggers.

RRA two stage NM triggers are nice. I have trigger time on them and like them.

I'm really enthused about the $35-$50 Bill Springfield trigger jobs. You send him your stock factory AR trigger and in a week or so it comes back transformed. Here's a current thread.

I gotta throw out the timney drop in unit I have one and love it. It is a 3lbs single stage and breaks like glass with NO Creep!!!!!!!!!!!!! I highly recommend. Not a cheap unit but not as much as a Griesslie unit and those are two stage IIRC.

I just ordered that Geiselle from LaRue for my new LaRue Stealth Snipers system being built. Can't wait to get my lower built up, only wish i had a LaRue spripped Lower. But my S&W M&P will do for now :)

ANother vote for the Geissele trigger. I've got the DMR, 2nd stage is like glass. first stage isn't noticeable.

Oh, and with the geissele you won't worry about light primer strikes.

I could not afford a 100.00 trigger , sooooo.....
I use the standard single stage RRA trigger/hammer and disconnect, however I modified it to have a nice pull and clean crisp break by adding a Wolff heavy hammer spring and reduced power trigger and disconnect spring. In conjuction with jp oversized anti-walk pins. I am very pleased.

I'm interested in finding a trigger also for my 6.8. I've been looking at the Timney, but for hunting should I be looking for a single or 2 stage trigger?

Thanks.
It'd be best for you to try out each if you can and determine which one works best for you. My personal preference is to have a two stage on pistol grip rifles and single stage on the traditional rifle stocks.

I'm in the same boat you are in right now. My other rifle has a RRA 2-stage on it, but I have been wanting a Timney for a while. I have heard there are some light primer strikes with the 3lb, can't have this happen cause it will be used for hunting and comp. purposes. Would the 4lb be best, or will the 3lb work just fine?

Sorry for hijacking, but I figured it would be on topic with the origanal post.

I have 2 other rifles with the rra 2 satge trigger. im gonna see if i can get a hold of one of those and just stick with what i know. i have never had problems with them and i like the way they feel. they are affordable too
I also have an RRA two stage in mine. It wouldn't really resemble an out of the factory piece since I've had it. I've polished the sears (actually overpolished them into a single stage and had to fix it, will know better next time) and tweaked the springs and pretty much adjusted it to exactly the pull I wanted on each stage. I don't know the pull weight, but I can venture it's under 4#, with a smooth first stage and a prominent second (more than likely about a 1# first and about a 2-2.5# second). I prefere this one since it's not adjustable and will not fail due to the adjustments slipping out of place.

Ive been shooting the three pound for a couple of years now and have never had an issue with light primer strikes. I am shooting handloads and they have all functioned great. 90 gr TNT on top of 31 gr of H322 behind Winchester SR primers. I think if there was an issue they have it worked out. also heard you can use the AR-10 trigger also which hits a little harder but also cost a little more. I do not think the trigger pull relates to how hard it strikes the primer, but what do I know. I can tell you that I love mine and would not give it up.

That's good to know. I think you just about sold me on the 3# Timney.
