Anybody catch that last night on the .mill channel? No other place to post this so I figured here would be ok. Decent show, differents units from the army, marines, af, (don't think I saw navy), international soldiers, and some LEO all competed. Nice selection of guns, everything from the SR25 to AR's in SPR format and bolt guns. I don't think I saw anything over .308 caliber. If you get the channel check out part 2 tonight at 9.

Pretty good. I have shot with those guys from the AMU (with, not against) at some competitions. I think a couple of the EU teams may be shooting 338 Lupua's. Looking forward to tonights episode.

I missed the episode last night, but aren't they replaying it again tonight. I am up at my school right now, but I am taping all 3 hours that will be airing tonight. Hope I see the first part, I really did not want to miss it but my class ran past 10 o'clock.

Well aparently the USAMU was the only team ballsy enough to try the tennis ball at 150 yards. Guess im going to have to take some tennis balls to the range next time.
I was thinking the exact same thing!

I missed it completely, and I watched the commercials about it too. I'll try and watch or DVR it when it comes around again.

We mainly talk AR's here, but I think hyper accurate bolt guns are pretty cool also.

I would have to guess that most of the really good .mil sniper teams are off around the world doing what they are suppose to do and are to busy for these competitions.

I would have to agree. Hey A, they did show some contractors in action over seas taking care of business!

We shoot golf balls at 200yd but the kicker is the run before trying to shoot. During run downs, by the time you get to 100yd standing you can barely keep the cross hairs on paper. A tennis ball at 150 after running looks more like a corn flake

I think it was the Pittsburgh Swat team got the honors for the Helicopter shoot; "Try to hit as many targets as you can". Bolt action failed in this shoot, semi-autos did better. Some teams used the strap to secure rifle, some went prone. The Swat team use helos for surveilance, never to shoot out of, but they obviously felt more comfortable, since they won the helo shoot. The shooters explanation was that the floor of the helo vibrated soo much (he shot prone) that he used his hand as a shock absorber and his sighting was solid and stable (I forget his exact words).

But what was a joy to behold was the look in those guys faces, when they won. They were interviewed before the shoot and they thought they were outclassed and outgunned. They used a M4 style rifle but brought a 700 with them. Kudos to the Swat team for winning the helo shoot.

The editing of this contest was first rate, they interjected expert commentary with trainers and top marksmen and I learned alot. For security reasons they could not show all the scores. Looking forward to seeing the whole show.

I didn't get to see the first part yet, but I imagine that the military channel will replay it sometime soon. I thought this years Top Sniper was much better than the last. It seemed like they had better events and the filming seem better also. Also, I couldn't tell so I may be wrong, but wasn't that the same team that won last year as well.

I guess I am going to have to make something to hang some tennis balls with and take it out to my ranch sometime. Thats if the winds every drop below 40mph some time soon.
