Dam seems to be a bad year for ticks here. Not just deer ticks even wood ticks are more abundant in my area, guys and gals keep up your guard no one needs Lyme disease.

I've been hearing that a lot lately. Boots, trouser legs, jackets, hats... should probably all get a spray of permethrin. Ground cloths for camping, tarps, tents, etc. May not hurt to hit the floorboards of your rig with it too. Vile little creatures.
Treat your clothes with permethrin (sawyer makes a spray on) before you go out. Like, before enough that it dries completely. Won't stop them completely but they don't seem to like it ...

You're up there in Lyme Alley @Dan_F we have a fraction of the stuff (Lyme dz) you do.

I started using Sawyer back in 2012. That stuff works wonders.

Yes they are really bad here too! We've been turkey hunting last couple of weeks and have been pulling them off daily before they embed. I don't mind it though because I get a real close full body tick check from the wife!🤣🤣

Sawyer boot and clothes spray is awesome. Been using it for a long time. But i had one wood tick crawling on my toe walking to the workshop house. Sucks as i normally mow in shorts and flip flops.

Lone Star ticks are unbelievable this year. Here’s one of many that I caught trying to chase me down while I was painting my boat in the driveway last week. Video is at normal speed.

That’s crazy. I didn’t know they could move that fast.

Gotta get that blood meal to move to the next life stage. You'd run like your hair's on fire if it were life and death too lol.

Thanks a lot you a-holes, my skin is crawling already! It's been so dry around here for the last couple of years that I haven't seen a tick.
It'll happen now just because you said it! At least you're getting rain.

Hate them things as they give me sleepless nights sometime. I got bit in the arm last year by brown tick and felt like being shot with a bb gun. 3 on me so far so...

This.... all I need to do....🔨🔨🔨
Applying tick prevention and checking for ticks is an important safety measure for hunting or just being in the outdoors. Three years ago, I got bit by a tick that never attached (and I never found him during my tick-check before getting back in the truck to head home). It gave me Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever that my healthcare provider thankfully diagnosed and treated right off the bat. Since then, I do not wear button-down shirts. My hunting shirts are all 1/4 zip with thumb-holes so there is no easy point of entry and the neck is protected. I wear gloves and snake garters which close off the pant legs. I'd wear the garters just to keep sticker grass and briers off my pants plus protect from thorns. I also spray the beltline and bottom of the garters with bug spray as I head out.

Yeah, those little monsters chase you down. One gave me my favorite doctor story though! Lone Star Ticks can carry STARI (Southern Tick-Associated Rash Illness) which produces a bulls-eye rash looks a lot like Lyme. The one that got me crawled up and bit me just below my belt buckle. I decided to go to an Urgent Care Center to get it checked out.

You know how sometimes very serious people don't realize that they have just said something funny? Well, the PA came in the room and said: "Alright, why don't you LOWER YOUR PANTS AND WE'LL HAVE A LOOK AT THAT LITTLE THING".
I immediately started laughing and she had no idea why!

I stopped at a rest stop in central Iowa recently, and took a 100 yard walk on what I thought was an actual trail, then turned around when it ran into standing water. It was very little vegetation, but about 50 miles later I felt something crawling on my leg ended up checking at an on ramp and flicking off a damn tick. I guess I should be happy it was a big one and was easy to notice!
Sawyers, always. Haven’t found one on me since I started using it years ago. Have you all heard of the Lone Star tick? If it gets you it can make u allergic to red meat. I would rather die. I would starve to death anyways
