I have an Armalite 6.8 flat top with MI flips up front and rear. I bought it before the election and have read a lot here in the forum about optics since. I'm leaning toward a Aimpoint comp M4s with side pivot magnifier but the ACOG 3.5x35 with green donut reticle has my interest also. I know with the Aimpoint I can co-witness. Also like the Leupold Mark 4 CQ because of the adjustable magnification along with the circle and center dot. I also like the fact that if the battery goes dead on the Mark4 CQ, you still have a a dark circle and center dot.

I'm stuck here. I'd like a nice combination quick aquisition capablility along with some magnification. Need to know the pros and cons of your experiences. I plan on hunting Texas hogs, coyotes, and deer. Also would like some home defense capability too.

Thanks

man..
my 6.8 has caused me to spend more money and try more different things trying to find something for all occassions..

mine is used for hunting, deer and hogs and the latter at night
want it all.
light, fast, bright, tough, etc..

I had a TA33 for a while and liked it but the chevron reticle to me is not great for hunting

you might want to look at 1-4s like the Trijcion TR24

I've had a couple of CQ/T's, a TA31DOC, and currently have the Aimpoint M4S with the Aimpoint 3xMagnifiers on Larue Tall mounts.

The more I shot the ACOG, the more I hated it. Caliber specific reticles suck major a$$.

The Leupold CQ/T is like a poor man's Aimpoint/EOTech with magnifier. It is a no frills optic with a simple reticle and simple turrets. I wish it at least had BDC turrets. On 1x, it is not parallax free nor does it have unlimited eye relief, so it is not as fast as an Aimpoint or EOTEch.

The Aimpoint M4s with magnifier is great out to approximatey 300 yards. I've always been a fan of the regular co-witness, but I went against my better judgment and got the Larue Tall mounts which place the Aimpoint at the lower 1/3 co-witness. What a mistake.

Anyway, out of the three, I'd go with the Aimpoint with 3xMagnifier. But I'd also check out the 1x4 scopes that are available like the 1x4 Accupoint or the Nightforce 1x4. Basically I'd make my decision on this. If 75% of my shooting was 0-50 yards or on 1x, I'd get the Aimpoint with 3xMagnifier. If 75% of my shooting was 50-300 yards, I'd get a 1x4 scope.

Thanks for the feed back. I've ruled out the Mark 4 CQ. I need to perform due diligence here and check out the accupoints and Night force scopes. I just don't want to buy two or three optics to get it right. ONE AND DONE!!
