Had a chance to buy SW BO powder today. 275 bucks for 8 pounds. Just couldn't justify the expense since Tac 30 will be the only cal. I use it for. Is it good in the 6.8 or 223?
So H information on his website mentions 1680. Don't have that. Will other 6.8 pwders work well? AA2200, H335, Acc. 10X. I have 6.8 loads with those powders. Wanting to develop a load with the 125 CBB in the Tac 30.

AA2200, H335 ad 10x are all a bit slow for Tac 30 max performance. RL 7 will work. But SW BO is the best IMO and CFE Black. I would bite the bullet on the SW BO. Its good stuff for this cartridge.

Absolutely you need to get SWBO - even at $275.

IMO, SWBO provides the best performance in 30 Herrett AR / TAC 30 with 125gr bullets.
Second choice is 1680, then CFE Blk, then RL 7.
I would not agonize over not using SWBO in 6.8 and/or 223.

My load is 29.4gr SWBO running cavity back 125gr MKZ at 2.285" OAL, CCI450 primer.
18" barrel running 2753fps with the stouter 308 bullet.
The same combination pushing the 300BO 125MKZ gets 2791fps...

Please - Work up the load for your bolt / barrel.

Took Donkins advice and bit the bullet. Dies are on the way. Barrel at the PO now likely. Just got to get it all together. Sure would like to have an 18 in. barrel!

You can use SWBO in 6.8 with a 90 grain bullet.

So if SWBO is good in tac 30 with 125 gr. bullets, wouldn't it also work in the 6.8 with the CBB 120?

QuickLoad shows 6.8 with 120gr MKZ hits max pressure at 22.85grns SWBO for 2459fps from 18" barrels.. at 2.295" OAL if not in the lands.

105gr MKZ hits pressure at 24.6grns SWBO for 2660fps again at 2.295" OAL. Check your length and work up...

You could run SWBO in your 6.8 and make it work, but better powders are available.
Your money - your choice.
