I just purchased them last week so I assume the batch is new... colemantyler makes runs to the SD shop there since they are not far from each other...

My upper has no engravings or markings and it has no fwd assist or deflector....

He told me that if there is any issue with fit.... use the adjustment screw in the lower.... he said they should fit tight to most rcvrs and if not that is what it is there for....
He said there is no use for antiwalk pins or an accuwedge becuase of the tightening screw available....

he also said that they do some special anodizing to get the uppers to come out with a "satin" look....

oh.... I love the checkering on the front of the mag well....

ONCE THE UPPER HALF IS ASSEMBLED I WILL POST PICTURES

He is correct on the accu-wedge incorrect on the anti-walk pins. One has nothing to do with the other. I always use KNS pins as why ever have to worry about it if they may come out or not. It eliminates the issue entirely

I was actually wondering what is the best size since the holes seem larger

Ugh, I thought I replied.

I have thoughts on the Sun Devil lower:

1) the pin holes are oversized in mine. Enough that my fire control pins were walking out after 10-15 shots. I had to put KNS anti walk pins in. I dont know if my take down pins are undersized, but my upper and lower wobble a bit. I'm going to get a new set of pins and test.
Why didn't you send it back as it was obviously not within spec? Was it second hand or used where you could not? My bet is regardless if you called SD they woudl have replaced it. That is certainly not the norm for this product.
I talked to Dave at the gunshow today. He said that the oversize pin holes were correct, that he had problems with people trying to use oversized out of spec pins, and made the holes larger to accommodate them.

Just FYI.

I used the .156 anti walk pins on my SD lower... they fit nice and tight and decreased my trigger pull

According to the Ranier Arms site, their uppers don't seem to have M4 feed ramps. Is this an issue with a larger cartridge such as 6.8? The two Kotonics 6.8 uppers I have have the M4 ramps, but I'm not sure thats a necessity for good feeding, or just reassurance.

I just picked up my completed lower with an ergo grip and 6 postion stock for $340 last week and very satisfied. Although for anyone else looking to get one now it might be a while as Dave said he is on backorder some 2300 pieces. Now I just need to wait for the the xtreme upper!
