Anyone had the chance to shoot one of these yet? I am very interested in one but would like some hands on info before buying, if the Glock is better, i will go that route.

I actually just bought one a couple of weeks ago. Here is a picture with my 6.8 rifle.

It is my first pistol that I have bought but compared to the glocks, hk's, sigs, and 1911's I have rented at various ranges, I love it. The medium grip fits my hand very well but there are the two replacements grips. It comes in a very nice case with lots of goodies. Plus, Springfield will give you two more magazines with their gear-up program. I can't wait for my other two magazines to come in. Field stripping was very easy. Just lock the slide back and twist the take down lever counter clockwise and slowly pull the slide forward after releasing the slide and the slide comes off very easily.

The 16 round magazines are nice but so far I can only get 15 and 14 rounds into each one although I believe that would be plenty.

My only issue is the trigger. The pull is long and not as crisp as it could be. However, it is a nice shooter. I would suggest you feel the trigger pull and make sure it is ok for you first though. Let me know if you have any other questions.

My youngest brother just bought one on a buying spree. It's very ergonomic and points well. I could get used to the trigger, and you can get a trigger job from the Springfield custom shop. It comes with accessories and a deal for the extra mags as mentioned above. The XDM in 9mm with the 20 round mags is tempting also.

I'd say get it.
I have the older style XD45, I love the pistol, I am not a fan of the M "upgrade" I dont see a need for it.
I have 2 of them and I love them! Shoot great, handle great. The only thing on the negative side for me is that it is large as I use the XD40 as my carry weapon.
Thanks for the info. I have checked them out a few times at the local gun shows and really like the feel of it. Also i like the higher capacity mag rather than the standard XD40 which only holds 12 rounds. you can never go wrong with more bullets. 8)
I think the XD is a solid platform, you will see more and more show up in IDPA and I see more and more on the boards, they are priced right and perform. cant beat that.

Several years back I was in search for a carry piece. Came down to the Glock 23, XD40, or the HK USPc 40. I had to shoot all three before I'd buy. It had to fit my hand, managabe recoil, and reasonably accurate. The Glock stung in my hand, the XD was ho-hum, and the HK Rocked. I guess if you like a Ford Tarnus you would be OK, I preferred the BMW of pistols

These are how you choose a pistol.

:? Ten Rounder probably wears visiting team colors to a home game. BMW's and Taurus' huh? You know that'll start some comments don't you? Besides Taurus is one of the most successful model lines for Ford, so that means you hold the XD in high esteem, right? So you're ranking the XD higher, I get it now. :D  :D

HK makes a good product, but "to me" the USP didn't fit me. I handled it fine but the shoe didn't fit. Now I feel HK's newer P30 and HK45's are much better pistols ergonomically and I want to shoot them before my next handgun purchase.

Now this comes full circle to your comment of "fit my hand, manageable recoil, and reasonably accurate" which is a very good summary, except I would add "reliability" as one of the main attributes to consider as well.
I've always heard the HK has a really hard military style trigger, heavy springs. Bad ass gun no doubt, one of my favorites. But the price is also a little extreme sometimes compared to the competition.
HK price... what's with that? Exchange rate, availability, expensive to make? I'm afraid to see what the price of the HK416 uppers will be if they become available. I've always liked their stuff. When I was younger, a HS buddy's family had an HK91. I was in love with that rifle! That and a Colt CAR was the first assault rifles I fired. Memories.

The Ford Taunus, not a Ford Taurus

Now for the triggers, I use only the light LEM of about 4.5# break for all of my 4 HK's. I would like a HK45c but I am behind enemy lines. I have never had any reliability issues with any of the HK's either.

This thread fits General Firearm Discussion better. Moved.

The XD is a fantastic platform. I should never have sold mine. XDm is a whole lot of firepower as well.
