This is the value pack I received from http://www.thegunsource.com

After 2 days on the phone, 3 days using website contact, I have yet to receive the RMA I was supposed to have Thursday 7/16. It would be nice to have a direct email from/to them to send a picture or three so they could more quickly attain my RMA to get these decomposed, useless bullets out of my possession.

What do you think? Are these bullets worth using? Who here would load them up?

I would maybe contact Speer and show them what one of there distributors is selling. Maybe Speer will step up to the plate and help you out, Good luck and keep us posted.

So long as I can use YOUR rifle, I'll give it a whirl(got a vise and a bugs bunny string?). I'll be damned if I put that crap through anything.

Sent Speer a letter with a link to this post just to let them know. I still find it perplexing that the ammo can is green, and came in a box. I would be curious to know how old these are. The last ones came with the black can wrapped with the black and gold Speer sticker. I reaallly like the TNT's, just not these

That is true these must be really old. Both of the value packs and all the individual 100 count boxes I have gotten have been the black with gold like you described. These have to of been stored someplace nasty and they are trying to dump them or not checking quality.

Here is part of the reason it is near impossible to get ahold of them. TSGCOM manages all of the web stores in this link.

None of those sites actually have any stock. You order from them and then they turn around and order it from a supplier somewhere. Who knows where the actual product is coming from. And good luck calling. You'll be waiting for about 45 minutes to talk to someone and several days, if ever, to get an email reply.

1st call 35 minutes on hold. Mon
2nd call 25 minutes on hold Tues.
used site contact tues-this morning always tomorrow, tomorrow as if I have all day every day to work this out.
And guess what. 15 minutes after sending link to this thread, I have a REAL email address AND a RMA. So now I guess I'll have to see how long a refund takes.

So, is the material on the bullets the decomposed foam material from inside the plastic box? Have you taken a bullet and cleaned it off to see if the bullet underneath the crap is relatively in good shape (not pitted or such)? If you don't get a satisfactory resolution thru the seller or Speer, I'm wondering if there is a fix to this. There are a number of different solvents that you can obtain from various sources. Paint thinner, rubbing alcohol, denatured alcohol, nail polish remover, more aggressive solvents and strippers beyond paint thinner from paint/hardware stores, etc.

Sinced I am married, I have a source for nail polish remover (don't use it personally myself). It is acetone based and I am wondering if it would cut that stuff. If it does, you could then tumble the bullets or use something like Iosso to brighten them up. You could mess around with a small sample of the bullets and see if they can be salvaged.

My tongue and cheek response was to tell you to use a rock polisher with fine grit sand and then to sell them on ARFCOM as 6.5 grendel bullets. But I decided not to say that....oops, guess I just did, my bad. ;<)

I did clean two, at least removing the sticky residue. I wonder if coke got spilled inside. Anyways, there was a deep dark stain under the sticky gunk that penetrated deep in the copper. The dark spots felt rough even after scraping with my knife. Could I have shot it? Maybe, but 5 minutes a bullet X 650 = my complete lack of patience. I should have taken a pic of a "clean" one side by side to the new ones I still have, but I was at the PO 30 min. after getting that RMA. It's a good thing I had the week off to get this taken care of:rolleyes:

Update: Refund

I got a refund for original cost plus shipping, but had to foot the bill for return shipping to the tune of $13.00

I never did receive a response from Speer, but got to looking, and noticed TGS is not a Speer dealer. The only way I found those bullets was a google search leading me here

There was nothing on their main page regarding Speer bullets at all, which probably should have been an indicator, I was just excited to find some.
