I have been trying to get some 6.8 ammo for under 19.00 a box lately and it has been a PITA.
I decided to go with a semi-well known source and come to find out they had the Sellier and Bellot "plastic tip special" wich are loaded with 110gr hornady green tip sst bullet. If you order 5 boxes or more the price is 16.99 a box plus a flat rate on shipping. It showed backordered on 6/11/09 but I went ahead with it anyway since they dont charge the card till its shipped. Well, I checked my account this morning and they charged my card. I was like WTF? So I checked my log-in account and it shows they shipped 2 days after I ordered. So much for backorder. Total damage was 169.00 for 200rds and 12.00 s/h

I know.... I know... I know...

My new CTD catalog shows the new SSA plinking round for under 15.00 a box of 20. :O

Wholesale Hunter shows zero cases available. I am on the email list so I will get a case of those too. I love the S&B PTS and the Hornady red tip bullets. Accurate little suckers and expansion is marvelous. Good lookin...

Wow, won't that be nice!

I just called about it, since that doesn't show up on the website yet. Yes it is the correct price per box, and the lady I spoke with at CTD says their expected in-stock date is early July. But I doubt she has any information that we don't--I'm going to keep calling SSA every few weeks to get a powder-status update.

Looking around lately, does it seem to anyone else like ammo is starting to come back in stock somewhat? To soon to get our hopes up, but maybe those panic-buyers have finally maxed out their credit cards and are starting to slow down.

I have noticed. I went into wal-mart at lunch and they had about 25 boxes of .223 at 9$ as well as a pile of 12ga slugs and some pistol ammo. Normally the shelves are bare. I also noticed that backorders are filling waaay before the estimated in stock date. I also noticed no real difference in pricing in terms of an increase and since the link above was posted with the hornady ammo at 15.00 a box in bulk orders of 10...it actually shows ammo prices decreasing.
Its just nowadays you have to shop around a little more for ammo than before.
