Selling Pre Ban Lower Receiver

328 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Woodstock
With the recent decision by the SCOTUS, does that change selling a pre ban lower receiver to someone in CT or another ban state like MA? I have a pre ban lower receiver I've been meaning to sell. But I've held on to it in case I had to move to a restrictive state for my work. With Scotus refusal to hear the recent case, anybody know if it effects sales of pre ban AR receivers in ban states? I will only make a deal where the transfer is through a FFL.

I haven't been as diligent in keeping up with our laws here in MA as I used to, but I haven't heard of any changes here regarding pre ban lowers.

If you want to send me a PM I'd be interested in knowing what your asking price would be.

Thanks for the response. I've watched the pre ban lowers sell for way to much money on AR15.com. Figured I would sell mine and fund another project. But, getting cold feet since I don't need any problems it could cause. I wonder if I went through an FFL in the person's home state, it would only go through if allowed? But not sure I can depend on an FFL to know either. Maybe somebody will chime in that has some knowledge.

It is against the law to sell it (or any firearm) across state lines without going through an FFL anyway so contact an FFL in the state you are selling it and they can tell you whether it is legal or not. They would not accept it if it weren't legal.

That is like saying it is illegal to let your black workers go free. Yeah, I just said that, and it is true.

I guess I don't get your reference. I am just stating what the law says.

Thanks. Maybe I can depend on them to know the law. I'm just being cautious. Last thing I need to the ATF knocking on my door.

If they don't know the law it is on them, not you. If you transfer it to a licensed dealer it is no longer your problem.
