I disagree, they may do "ok" if they are the only 6.8 SPC ammo cabelas stocks, both in catalogue and in the retail stores.

If that is the case they might do ok, or maybe better then expected.

I worked at a cabelas for a while during college... never under estimate the average gun owner's ability to buy over priced items ;)

I have already tested it, and I buy it ammo to go, it is cheaper then a buck 69 a round. It shoots well enough.

Any updates on this ammo? I got some in off backorder for $195/200 rds (delivered via a free shipping deal). However, I'm still waiting on my rifle... :( (Should be next week...)

No worries I have plenty of SSA on order as well and am waiting on brass!

Anyhow, I've had good luck with S & B in other calibers and this looks to be decent ammo as well. I'll let you know when if I find any problems.

I have shot this alongside the hornady and they shot to the same point of aim and basicly the same accuracy...
I have posted these pics before but I will again... here is a 10 round group out of my 18 inch 6.8 I think this was at 50... not amazing accuracy I will admit but I was probably trying to rush a little as well:

and here is the same group with 10 more rounds of the hornandy ammo added into it:

I love how it expands. I should post some pics of the expanded rounds I found in the sand behind the target. They peeled like a bannana.

Looks like they dropped the price, it's down to $195/200 rounds.

Has anyone put these over a chronograph yet?

marinesg1012 thanks for re-posting those pics! Great to know and I expected it would be decent ammo.

Thanks for your service and get home safe Marine!

It is a duplicate to Hrdy Vmax ammo. Hrdy uses a small primer case and SB uses a large. IMO SB may be making the ammo for hrdy on contract as HRdy does not personally make very much rifle ammo in house from what I have heard. I know for a fact they did not make the 6.8 ammo in-house over the last couple of years. Not sure if that has changed now. The fact that you can not get a modified 6.8 case from Hrdy for the OAL gauge kit is what got me snooping around. But then this is the way of gun industry in general. Many companies are farming out production of rifles etc with there name on it.

SB IMO could have kicked everyone's butt and exploded the market if they had loaded a plinking round for $10-$11 a box. They could not have kept up with demand if they had done that. There is such a thirst for plinking ammo its not funny. The first company that brinks one out at a good price point and gets it into stores will be the king. A 90-110 FMJ going 2700-2450fps will be more than enough and hold about a 2 moa accuracy from a decent barrel. Popularity would double in the 6.8 From, the looks of it Art's SSA will be the goto for this as well. Only fitting giving he has been the supporter of 6.8 since the get go.

I agree tim, a plinking round will get people training with it more, and get it into courses more and that will get it into other peoples hands quicker.
