Finally got it to the range today. Using a Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x42, and PPU 150 grain soft point, it did well. I’d considered changing to an 18” mid gas barrel, but I think I’ll leave it alone for now. Once I get the rest of my factory ammo shot, I’ll reload for accuracy. It ain’t too shabby for cheap hunting bullets!

Currently running 3 different .308 loads: 168gr Amax/Zmax with CFE223, 165gr SST w/ 8208 XBR, and 155gr HPBT w/ 748. Hoping to do some more hunting with the SST's, only had the opportunity for one trip since I got the AR but will use it exclusively from now (other than my 6.8, that is).

I am 6’-5” and 265 lbs. So most my rifles have Bull or Semi bull. I have two 308 AR’s. Both with 20” Black Hole Weaponry 1-11 barrels, one bull , one semi bull. The have 6-24 x 50scopes. These rifles are both crazy accurate. They weigh a ton the bull is 12.4 lbs without a loaded magazine. I have a LW 5.56 16” barrel with a Burris 332 optic that weighs in at 7.5 lbs. it feels like a toy. For self defense it is great. Not so much for hunting. The 308’s run everything from M80 ball to Hornady 225 gr HPBT. They love 165 gr SST’s. So for me weight feels great, but weight is secondary, accuracy counts. The also have two LR308’s in 260 Rem. 22” BHW 1-8 twist light profile barrels. They are not as capable as the 308’s in close 200 yds for hunting but ballistically they are far superior past 500 yds. Out of the 260 Rem, 147 gr ELD matches are supersonic to 1,600 yds at sea level. So every LR308 can be built to what your philosophy of use is.
