Recently picked up this 7 1/2” 44 magnum Redhawk from the original owner; serial number dates it to 1983. Just installed the Hogue redwood laminate grips and fiber optic front sight, and decided to show it off.
Don’t know whats been done to the trigger on this one, but it’s as good as any Colt or S&W I’ve ever seen. The older gentleman I bought it from said he had the trigger worked right after he bought it, but doesn’t remember what was done. It’s been forty years, so I can understand. He only fired it 25 times in all those years. He gave me the rest of the box of ammo, but the brass was so corroded that I’d never fire them.Nice gun. Mine is blued, about 15 years newer, has a Wolff 14lb spring and a Burris 2x scope. Tried the same Hogue grips years ago, but didn't like them and went back to factory.
I’m planning on working up some lighter target loads with CFE Pistol. Got H110 and 2400 for the serious stuff. Got some 300 grain coated from Missouri Bullet Company that I’m gonna try. They should be an excellent hunting bullet.I've settled on two loads, I mostly shoot 10gr blue Dot under a 240 plated, also 240 jhp on 24gr w296/h110.
The more I shoot this Redhawk, the more I like it. I’ve yet to find a load that it’s not accurate with. Even the 300 grain loads are tolerable because of this revolvers weight. I’d prefer a bit shorter barrel, but it is what it is.I know a guy that he and his dad have consecutive serial number Redhawks and one also has a Super Redhawk. Beautiful pieces of workmanship.
