That's a good question. We haven't received an update in a while. Someone at Ruger confirming higher cap 6.8 mags to you is a good thing, and is better than what we've heard before. I own a Mini-14 and it's one of my favorite knock about carbines, but I've shied away from their 6.8 to wait on the mag situation to improve.
ProMag was supposedly working on 6.8 Mini hi caps, but I haven't seen them on the market.
Not long ago, someone talked about taking the Ruger 6.8 follower out of the stock short mag, and fitting it into one of the Ruger steel 20 rd 5.56 mags to see if that worked. And someone else was trying 7.62X39 mags. Maybe we can get updates with your post.
