I placed a call last week and was informed they make thier own "grey" 6.8 followers now(almost identical copy of the magpuls they used to use...hmmmm) They also use CS springs and SS bodies.... Below is a response to an email I sent asking a few questiions regarding thier 6.8 mags' parts and performance...

"Broderick,
This magazine was designed specifically for the 6.8 platform. We choose our own anti tilt follower for control and reliability. The coating has always been a struggle to get the right one. We continue that search. We have found the chrome silicone spring to be the most reliable and durable spring to use in magazines. It won't take a continual set [weakening] as do the SS springs. Hope this helps answer some of your questions. Thank you for your support of our product.""

Thanks

I have to go look, but it seems like their new followers actually angled the bullet with a little more tilt up than the CP's with the MagPul followers. Haven't tried them yet myself.

A bird told me that they copied magpuls design, hence the reason they no longer use magpul followers... from what I see the hump on the black magpul follower is a little beefier than the grey c-products one..

I may have to compare them side to side and report back tomorrow...

The CProducts mags that I have purchased have all run 100% unlike the one PRI mag I bought.
I will have to give a plus one to this response.

Although, my experience with the CP mags I have is about at 97%. Out of the 12 CP mags I have, only one didn't work. It wasn't that it fed unreliably, it just flat out did not work. The tack weld was screwed up giving me a mag length of 2.11, but Palm. State sent me a new one immediately.

I have 6 Pri mags, which 3 of them have been less than stellar. I'm not going to bad talk Pri though, like some probably would. I have the philosophy of sh$t happens, and I just happend to get some bad mags.

I read over on ar15.com that user Bushboar comtacted Drake of magpul about this a year ago (he is an attorney with a focus on copyright, TM's etc) and was told that C-P has permission from Magpul (what sounds like a lic agreement) to make the followers. They do look a lot like the magpul ones because, so I was told they have an agreement to do so
The PRI mags I use have been good to go, from all reports the recent CP 68 mags have been doing a lot better then the older ones.

Well, this is second hand info. While I have spoken with Bushboar about it in passing, who knows. M4carbine.net has a good reputation as far as honest info goes, Im sure the true answer lies someplace in the middle.

I have pri's and haven't had any issues with them. I also have 1 cprod mag and it's been flawless as well. I spoke to Chad at cprod and he told me (for those of you in the communist state of NJ), they are making the 30 and 20 rd mags staked to 15 should you wish to purchase them. They are alot cheaper than the pri's so I ordered some and will let you all know how they perform.

I put a magpul 6.8 follower and a c-products grey 6.8 follower together and although they are pretty much the same OAL there are some noticeable differences between the 2...

1.The magpul follower base retains a rectangular chape whereas the c-products one remains rectangular up until the forward fortion then it rounds off... it look kinda like a flat magnum cartridge.

2. The "hump" on the magpul follower is beefier by about 1/8th of an inch and the slope on the forward portion is longer by almost a 1/4 inch ... the rear portion is not sloped on the magpul but it is slightly sloped on the c-products one...

To sum it up... they are noticeably different yet have the same overall size aside from the hump on the magpul ramp being larger .

I have 10 CP mags and they have all performed flawlessly. Have contemplated buying PRI because of recommendations here but just don't see why when I can buy essentially 3 or 4 CP mags for the same price. I am sticking with CP, good stuff!
