I'm interested in putting in another order on a .223 black rifle. And I would like some ideas on how to proceed.

Quickly, what I have right now:
1. Bushmaster Shorty-AK A2 .223 (post-ban config) w/ forward mounted Trijicon Reflex.
2. Stag 5, 6.8mm, Leupold MK4 1.5x20, BUIS, etc.

What do I need to really round things out?

I think it would be fun to put something together. What would be the best strategy at this point, given the supply situation, on proceeding on a build?

What kind of collection are you trying to build. I know alot of people believe in redundancy, serveral weapons of the same caliber. You could go that way or serveral weapons of each a different caliber. I would suggest going with a 18 or 20 inch barreled upper. And if your thinking of going with a different caliber, 5.45X39, 6.5G, or even 308

Sounds lie a ar-10 or a FNAR should be next. I love my fnar

Sounds like you need either 1) a varmint AR -- 18 to 20 inch free float bull barrel, match trigger, high-power scope, or 2. a DMR rifle (same idea as 1 but for combat not prarie dogs) or 3) a 9mm suppressed shorty AR.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm torn. On one hand maybe I should just get a simple M4. Or maybe something oriented more towards long-distance accuracy.

I think I want to stick to .223 however.

I would probably want to go with a precision rig, something with a longer, free float barrel. As mentioned above, a varmint and SPR or DMR build are pretty similar. Use a railed forearm and aa few more modifications and you can build yourself a DMR. I'm kind of taking that route with my 6.8 build, though the barrel I got was 16".

Squad Designated Marksman.. these 20 inch ACOG'd rifles look sharp. They were on American Rifleman or American Guardian TV shows this week.
