That sounds like something is wrong. I have not mounted a scope to mine yet, but I still get much better results than that.

I have 2 of the 6.8 mini 14s. One a Gun Doc C package modified and one factory stock.

The stock rifle with 110 gr SSA loads of the TSX and Pro hunter were right around 2-4" with the iron sights at 100 yards. Now remember, my eyes don't let me be very accurate with irons any more so I was very happy. (Don't laugh, you'll all get there some day! )

The Gun Doc model is the better shooter mostly because of the great trigger and other mods he does. :D

Many reports from others are consistent with my results on the newer model Minis in 6.8.

I'm well within minute of varmint or zombie at 100 yards so it rides under the seat of my personal truck all the time. Mostly because it's accurate and reliable, slimmer, fits under the bench seat well in a protective case, less "evil looking" and I have a lot less $$ into the Mini than any AR I have.

Try some different ammo and check your scope mounting and security. Never liked scopes on Minis as they are famous for beating up optics pretty bad.

Good luck.

Hey guys. I just bought a new Ruger mini 14 in 6.8 SPC. I took it to the range today shooting Hornady 6.8MM SPC 110 GR BTHP/WC. I put a NEW Bushnell Elite 3200 series scope on the gun. I was shooting 100 yards over a bench. I would shoot one round and it hit pretty much where I expected. The next round would hit 6" low. The next would be 6" somewhere else.. BTW the wind was calm. Any ideas? I shoot all the time just in case someone asks. I have a Bushmaster in 450 Busmaster caliber that I can shoot three rounds that touch at 100 yards and I shoot a Remington 700 Alaskan TI in 270 WSM that makes one three shot hole at 100 yards. So, I need some help with this Ruger.
locktite your scope mounts next time

it's probably not the ammo 8)

I have the same gun, Ruger Mini 14 6.8 on hold at Bass Pro shop for $775! Seems high to me?
I have some reservations about going through with the buy. Especially now that you may be having issues
with accuracy. But, I've read Many places that the barrel needs to be "seasoned" before it reallly is accurate?
What made you choose the ruger in 6.8? Do you know of any high capacity mags? Good supply of ammo? Where?
I dont have any knowledge to help you with your question, but I'll be interested in the input of the forum members.

I used to have a 223 mini 14. I hated it, it was awfully inaccurate and ended up selling it and buying an SKS.

So when I was at the range last month and a fellow pulled out a 6.8 mini 14, I thought he was terribly misguided. It turns out I am the one misguided, he was turning in close to MOA 5 shot groups with H322 and 110 handloads. All that to say I wouldnt be dissuaded.
