Hello,

I have already introduced myself in another thread but I didnt want to clog that thread up with my questions. If any of these have already been discussed in depth let me know, or atttach a link, or something. Thanks!!

1) Im pretty sure ive decided on the Stag 5H 6.8mm upper receiver, on their website it has a couple of drop down menus and one of the options asks if I want the standard front sight or "gas block". What does that mean? Call them up and see if they could make it the way you want.

2) Does anyone have any suggestions for a lower receiver? I was planning on just getting the stripped lower from STAG as well. Any quality lower will work, especially the STAG.

3) Will stag parts do for the lower or is there a superior lower parts kit to theirs that will work? STAG is fine.

4) Is there any other 6.8mm upper receiver (complete) that stag offers with different options (barrel length/twist, "handguard", sights, etc)?? I've only seen it in the basic configuration, but I'd call them up.

Thanks for the help, and this is an awesome forum. The 6.8 really does deserve its own.

HAHA!! Listen to me talk like I already own one
Welcome aboard. You may be better off just ordering a complete rifle from them.

Hey jbone, I have a Stag AR in 5.56 and the railed forend. It's a great shooter and in fact I'm looking at buying the 5HL upper also. I also have a question to anyone who knows or owns one---What kind of velocities can be attained out of it's 16 inch, 1 in 10 inch twist, SPCII chamber with 110 gr. bullets? From reading through this site I see that it will handle the SSA combat loads with more power and I want to handload for for it. I definately want to go with the Stag because it's available in left hand and I've had great reliability and accuracy with my 5.56. Thanks in advance for any help.
You can get 2600fps with the 16" barrel using H322.

I just have one more quick question. Is there any vendors on this forum or anywhere online that I would be able to order the 5H upper from and have the FSC30 permanently mounted prior to having it sent to me? It would save me from having to send it back out again. I dont think there are many if any gunsmiths around me. Thanks!!!!
Just an FYI, the Stag uses a diffrent thread size, so You'll have to send it out to get it re-threaded to the 5/8x24 threads. I'd just get the upper and send it to ADCO and have them cut it to 14" or 14.5" and have them permanently attach the FSC30.

ok, so the buffer assembly reduces the recoil of the rifle? To reduce the recoil, you can get an H-Buffer, or H-2 Buffer. The Standard Carbine buffer is the lightest. You can also get a different spring such as the Superior Shooting Spring.

And yet another question!!!! Are there any lower parts kits that arent compatible with s&w m&p15 lower receiver? Thanks for being so patient with me I really appreciate it!!! All of the Lower parts are compatible. I'd stick with quality ones such as Bushmaster, CMT, RRA, etc. Glad I could help.

What are the differences(if any) between the AR-15, M4, and M16? I was told by an leo thats a friend of mine to make sure I get an M4 upper, but I was under the impression that the M4 is "select fire" and legal in the hands of a civilian. :?: Thanks again!!! LOL
An M4 is a Carbine with a 14.5" barrel and the M203 cut. The M16 is a Rifle with a 20" barrel. The AR-15 is just the civillian designation. I wouldn't pay too much attention to those designations as they are screwed up alot. Just get one that is Semi-Auto and you will be fine.

ok next question!!! :D

I came across this package offered by troy. http://www.troyind.com/m4kit.html

Is it worth it and will it even work on the stag 5H upper? Thanks!!!!!!
I personally don't like it because the handguards aren't free-float and the sling is a 1-point sling. I'd get the Troy Free-Float handguards and a 2-point sling such as the Vikings V-Tac or the Vickers 2-point. But that kit will work with the Stag.

ok so I ordered the Stag 5h upper, and im gonna have to wait till I can build up some more funds to get the handguard/sling. In the meantime I have to decide on a BUIS and place an order for the butt-stock and MIAD grip :D
The hardest thing will be the wait. :D

My upper finally came! WOO HOO!!!!! And with my new receiver comes new questions :D :

1. In regards to "dry-cycling" the rifle; is the lubricant that came from the factory sufficient to dry-cycle 500-1k times, or should I disassemble clean/lube, and then dry-cycle??

Has anyone had any experience with these from GG&G?: http://www.gggaz.com/index.php?id=49&parents=38,44 I figure this would help save me some money, while allowing me to mount something simple like a light or grenade launcher  I have also seen something similar that has three seperate short rails that mount near the front end of the handguard, but ill have to search for that.
That GG&G rail is very good.
I'd just clean it, lube it, and cycle it a couple of times. You don't have to go go crazy cycling it because it has a carbine length gas system and you should have no problems.

ok thanks! I wish I could remember the name of the company that made the other rail(s). It had two short rails (maybe about 2 inches in length). And it allowed you to buy seperately (or as a package) another rail that mounted between those two. The first two rails mounted on the lower portion of the forend (at the front) at approx. 45 degree angle's.
Check this one out.

what are the t2,t4,t6,etc. markings on top of the upper receiver for? Someone had asked me if the chamber of the stag 6.8 is chrome lined or not. I wasnt sure but I do know the barrel is so I thought I would ask here. Thanks!!!!
The markings on the uppers are there for reference points for mounting optics or other things. It is so you remember where you had it.

The Chamber and bore are Chrome lined.
