I stopped by my dealer (Citadel Gun and Safe) here in Las Vegas yesterday and they had just received a batch of the new POF 6.8. Although I have a POF 5.56 upper for my Barrett Rec7, I hadn't seen the new POF 6.8. Overalll, it was a nice rifle. I'm not sure about the NP3 nickel finish on the receiver and why they would put a compensator on a 6.8 vs a flash hider. Still deciding whether I "need" one or not. Has anyone shot the new POF 6.8 and if so what are your thoughts?

The POF 6.8's are going to be very nice. They use a premium SS barrel in 1 and 11.5 twist. Also POF USA is on this site and is going to be a sponsor when the new upgrade is done in a few weeks!

If anyone is looking to buy now, Rainier Arms has POF 6.8 rifles in stock. I spoke with them this morning, and the rifles arrived with Geissele triggers and anti-rotation pins. That's a change from POF's standard configuration using Timney triggers and regular pins.

How did they function at the class? Malfunctions etc..
I believe 1 had issues because of the weak ammo and the other had issues due to lack of M4 Feedramps. I believe that POF is taking care of the M4 Feedramp issues. Overall, they appeared to be great ARs.

two out of two that failed to function does not sound that great to me. I get the weak ammo but no M4 ramps on a premium offer in any caliber is a huge oversite.

Cold,

The Barrels are not SS according to their website but mil spec CMV case hardened Rock creek pulled button commercial side barrels not Mike Rocks match SS barrels. It would not make sense to use SS given they are rated for reg FA use.

I have to say I have always liked the POF even with my comments above. There is something about them I like. The parts they use are top notch. I really likes the parts being coated to take lube to a min and OTF piston design. I have seen a a number of reliability issues posted and the time lines for getting one well before the current rush was very very long. I do believe now that they require a 50% down deposit up front. Based on that I would recommend getting one thru a dealer like the OP saw and posted on to avoid this. I would not want someone to have my money for 6 -12 month on a regular production item with nothing in hand to show for it. So I l guess I have a mixed opinion. I can say the one I got to shoot, full auto as well, ran like a rapped ape but it to had to go back to be fixed when it first arrived. After that it ran great which was when I got to demo it. It had has 15K thru it IIRC when I got to try it and was still running flawlessly.

Maybe they have things fixed and these will hopefully be awesome guns. You always hear about the ones that fail but only hear 1 out of 100 that work great. Something to always keep in mind.

Yes, but as a result of the feeding issues due to the lack of M4 Feedramps, POF is going to be doing the M4 Feedramps. Also, one of the POF Rifles was put together at the last minute and fedexed to the class without being tested. I know you weren't bashing them, but I just wanted to set the record straight on it before someone reads that and thinks that the POF had issues, when they really didn't.

Got it make sense. Like I said the only first had exp I habe was a few mags of FA. I have read QC issue iin assembly from the past and very long waites but no nothing about the new 6.8s. I always want any newe 65.8 to do really well cause it help the whole but I have to be fair in what I have seen ansd heard. It seemed POF was out of the svcene for a long time due to very long wait times but now I am heasirng more and more across the board about them. It seems since SHOt. Maybe they had a revam[p or changes they started about the same time whihc is popular to do at that time.
