I remember some good performance being reported from a Pac-Nor 3 groove barrel ( Harrison?). I had no luck searching for "Pac-Nor" or "Pac Nor" for some reason. Do they offer a 3 groove in twists other than the 1:13 that they list? A speciial button that they have on hand maybe?

Both Pac-Nor and Pacific Tool list the 6.8 SPC chambers. Dave Kiff at Pacific also lists a 6.8 Remington Special Match? The Remington name in there worries me, any idea what that chamber is? I would have thought that Dave Kiff of all people would know about the new chamber specs and I figured he would list a Murray, SPC ll or DMR reamer.

I ask here instead of talking to them because I'm not well versed in chamber lingo and I couldn't spot a backwards angle on a chamber print if I was looking straight at it.

Thanks

I own the 11 twist 4 groove and 12 twist 3 groove buttons at PN and the DMR reamer designs at PTG, they are not available to anyone else at this time.

Nice. At this point I was hoping to read about possible rental fees.

Sounds final, bummer.

I've been watching the AR1 but I need to keep the OAL over 26" so I'm looking into 18-19" barrels.

I see that you are considering using a custom lower now. Hopefully this doesn't mean that the action will be longer than an AR. If it will be different than an AR could you give me an estimated length from the front of the mag well to the rear?

Here are my bucks so far. I'd lay them up but I'd like to have all of the guns on hand before I start. Or at least know how long the AR1s mag well-to-rear will be.

I still need to carve that one and one for the SU-16A that I have on order for a 5.56 version. I'll be using a SU-16 because the action on my Daewoo is too long.

From the left: 10-22 / Mini-30 / BAR 30-06 / 12 GA Semi / A-bolt. From this angle they look boxier than they really are and you might not be able to see the scope rails, but at least now you see my plans.

cool, the linkage always scared me off from trying to design a BP.
I can make the AR1 work on a AR15 lower but it would work better if the carrier could travel another inch, it would increase reliability and reduce recoil. If I make my own lowers they will not be longer than a AR15, as an idea, mill the threaded loop for the buffer tube off and run the upper receiver to the back of the lower. The lower I make will be completely different than a AR because of the trigger/sear system I want to use.
If you want to build your own barrels, Kiff has the corrected SPCII reamer now and I can sell you a blank up to 26" long.

Sounds like it should fit. I'll be watching it's progress.

I'll use pull-rods instead of a push-rods to avoid deflection and binding. If I can keep the slop out of the linkages the trigger pulls should be decent. I expect a good amount of trial and error, that's what's nice about using fiberglass/composits. I won't modify any of the recievers so if I can't get good triggers I can always put the old school stocks back on.

Thanks

When I read that the first time I thought you were saying that your upper would take up this space. I had considered doing that since I don't want the buffer tube anyway, nice to know that your upper won't stretch any further back than an AR-15 upper. No matter how short your action is your strong side arm is going to contact the magazine at times so every half inch gained there makes the gun more shootable. I have two bullpups, the triggers suck, the long LOPs suck and they're ugly. I can do better, I hope.
