Ordering from SSA

1. Tried to make web order last night, but page timed out after hitting confirm with my credit card info. Not sure if they received my order.
2. Did not receive confirmation email.
3. Called customer support this morning and left message (no available operators)
4. Now at 3pm, just tried calling customer support, got voicemail again (didn't leave message).

That's been my experience so far.

Mike, welcome aboard. That is definitely not the norm with them. With all of the buying frenzy going on and companies getting ready for the shot show, this happens every year in this industry.
I'm glad that's not par for the course. I would like some plinking ammo sooner than later, got my first 6.8 build about to arrive. Need to find an ammo source.
Mike,

If your a Sportsman's Guide Member...

This previous post would help you get (40) rounds DELIVERED... for $15.83 a box.

"I can't give you a volume buy discount...and it's not as good as the Sportsman's Guide deal last Spring...but

If you are a Sportsman's guide member I can get you two 20 round boxes of commercial load SSA 110g Pro Hunters for $15.83 a box...delivered...!

As a guide member your cost per box online is $17.34

Buy ONE box... and checkout... being sure to UNCHECK the small box for the $.99 added fee.
Add discount coupon SN623 at checkout. This will take $10 off the total purchase.
Shipping will be $8.49
Total for the first box...$15.83 delivered.

Now..repeat the same process for a second order using coupon code SN639

The second box...if done correctly will be $15.83 delivered."

Thats the best I can do for you right now.

So it costs me $30 to be a member (I am not). Then they give you two $10 off coupons.

I take it the coupon in the post is a DIFFERENT coupon?

Or maybe you have to be a member already, does no good to sign up?
Mike,

In the past... being a member had it's perks.

Early last Spring we were able to list a combination of codes that allowed members to buy up to 1200 rounds at a delivered price of $10.81 / box. Obviously the $30 member fee paid off well.

However, SG got smart and reduced the number of $ off codes and increased their shipping price to prevent the very type of buying we did.

As a result, the membership is more difficult to justify. Over time it has paid off for me... but less so today than 10 months ago.

If you choose to join...the two $10 off codes they promise... will be the same codes I have already posted.

Your other option is to wait for the $12.99 / box "plinking "round that SSA plans to introduce in March of 2009 or wait for another sale of the Varminter round at $14.95 a box plus shipping...from SSA directly.

If you do not want to order this item, please remove the item from your Shopping Cart.
Maybe they'll have something later.

Order anyway...they fill the backorders promptly as soon as stock comes in. I have two boxes on backorder now and during the large $10.81 / box buy back in the Spring, much of the ammo was backordered, but we still received it several weeks later.

Everything is good now.

Ideally, it is nice to be able to talk to someone on a given business day when you try to reach them, but sometimes events intervene. And it certainly seems like most people here are pretty happy with SSA.

So soon I will no longer have a 6.8 AR with no rounds. :)

SSA has plenty of stock for the most part, our only concern is the limited supply of Pro-Hunter projectiles from Sierra. Once our stock dries up in the next two weeks or so Sierra tells us that they will not have anymore until Feb 2009.

Art,
Before your stock runs out could you please send the replacements you said you would send on 11/24 for the ones that would not fire?
They were the 110 PH's that I was hunting with and only 2 of 6 rounds fired even with good primer strikes. :(
Nancy just called me a little while ago to tell me my 640 rounds shipped yesterday :)

This coincides with a conversation I had with the Sierra Outlet manager who said that the plant runs the .277" #1810 110g Pro hunter only 3-4 times a year.

After I bought the last of the Pro Hunter "cosmetic seconds" she expected to have only " a handful" of seconds all next year.... :( :( :(

The more we demand bullets for this caliber in the correct mag length the better chance the companies will make them.

We will get it out Monday with commercial primers for you, but please change out your hammer spring.

My first experience with SSA also did not go well.
I placed the order for some 6.8 brass and received an order confirmation on 12-26-09.
I did not receive any confirmation of shipment or tracking information.
On 1-8-09 I sent a message asking for shipping information.
On 1-10-09 I received a reply stating that my order "was just missed" and it would ship out that day.
I received the box of brass this week. The brass was rattling around loose in the box. Some of them looked like they had been dumped on the warehouse floor and run over by a fork lift. The box was in good shape and not damaged.

Still have not received this.
Strange on the differences on orders. I ordered Sierra OTMs on 12/22, it shipped on 12/26. I didn't receive it until about Jan 7 but most of that delay was due to unusually deep snow and then flooding in western WA. It set in FedEx warehouse for several days.

I haven't had a chance to shoot any of it yet due to snow and water levels but my chance is hopefully coming soon.
