Hi, I recently (post election) purchased a 6.8mm Bushmaster, and it is my first AR rifle.
As a FNG, what is most important in the long run to purchase as far as spare parts, mags, bolt, upper etc. to keep the rifle in top running condition? I probably won't use it very often, but I don't want to get caught short-shrifted with a weapons ban.
Thanks for the advise -
Rob

I depends on what privisions the next ossible Assault Weapons Ban will have. If you are like many and planning on an AWB, the your best bet will definately be magazines. High Cap magazines were at a premium last time. But if i were you, i would just purchase a lower parts ''survival'' kit which has several springs, detents, and pins. they sell the packages at a lot of the onlne retailers. But definately get some mags... i would suggest checking out the Group Buy Cold is running!
thanks Ron - we have a gun show this weekend here in Phoenix, so I am planning on going & poking around. Getting a spare lower makes a lot of sense, and getting in on the group buy at 12.99 a mag is unbeatable!

+1 for mags and if you can locate any stock up on ammo, if it comes on sale even better?
After that spare parts, (extractors, bolts, gass rings, springs, cam pins, ect), are good investment to keep her running. Good luck, 6.8 it's an addiction
Just got back from the gun show - I found 6.8mm vmax for $16 for 20 and hollowpoint boattail for $15. I found one dealer offering 6.8mag at $43ea and only had three. I also purchased a 5.56 upper and some 5.56 mags for $8ea.
Going back tomorrow to look at scopes - I'll check to see what others have posted on scopes, but any ideas are welcomed.
After this, I am broke!
if you can, pick up a stripped lower receiver or two.... that way if they get banned, you will have a couple for future builds
ron169 - I saw someone carting away approximately 15 NIB lowers. tomorrow I expect more tables to be up and running and I am definately moving lowers to the top of my list. I can get scopes anytime.

I went ahead and got a couple of stripped lowers well before the election, but im gonna wait until after christmas to pick up some mags and maybe a couple more lowers.... not to mention the extreme upper!
Now I know what an extreme upper is...interesting, I'll pay attention to the forums when they are delivered. I managed to buy a couple of stripped lowers, and one complete lower with a two stage trigger. It's a nice function which I seem to remember from my childhood days with a .22 - now I am looking forward to getting some time on the range.
