New member desperately looking for the right barrel

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and would like to ask everyone for a big favor in helping me find the right barrel for my pending AR15 build. I have been doing a lot of research for this build and have chosen to go with the 6.8 SPCII or DMR (6.5 Grendel - 2nd choice). I have been contacting virtually all major players (of the 6.8) and so far have not had any luck settling on my purchase. I am very particular about this barrel. Here is what I am looking for:

- 16" barrel length in medium weight.
- 6.8 SPCII or DMR chamber specification.
- M4 profile (with M203 Grenade groove).
- 1-11" or 1-12" twist with 4 grooves/lands.
- Black finish.
- Non-chrome lined (accuracy is my game).
- Muzzle needs to be threaded for the 6.8 standard (I think it is 1/2" - 36 tpi).

So far, only Cardinal Armory and AR15Performance looks promising. I have read so many great things about Tim at Cardinal Armory that I committed to purchasing from him. However, I recently found out about the business situation at Cardinal Armory. I went ahead and gave Cardinal a call anyway, but have yet to receive a response. I fully understand the situation they're in and hope they can straighten it out soon and can take my order. I am sorry to hear these bad things happening to good people. The best way to help Tim is to support his work and purchase from him.
AR15Perfromance was also very helpful and informative. The guy, sorry - forgot his name, educated me about the 6.8 DMR situation. His barrels are a bit too price for me, but if I can't find anything else soon, I will purchase from AR15Performance. This is the reason I am asking for your help. Your recommendations will be much appreciated.

Welcome aboard. For your needs, AR15Performance is the way to go with the SS barrels. He can profile them any way you want.

AR15Performance may be the best bet for your game if you want the most accuracy.

White Oak Armament (WOA) makes some solid 6.8 barrels. Denny's GTS, JTAC Supply, and White Oak Armament direct offer them. They're SS midweight recon style. Their chambers may or may not be tight, but AR15Performance can DMR the chamber for you if needed.

If you really have to have the M4gery look non-chrome lined then DPMS makes 1:11 16 inch M4 barrels now also. There are both 1:10's and 1:11's in the market so specify when you buy. RGuns.net has has complete DPMS M4 uppers less carry handle for $510, $599 w/ carry handle. I've seen the same prices at DFW area gun shows. DPMS chambers have been tight in the past so AR15Performance has fixed their chambers too.

I finally found White Oak Armament and they can do a customized barrel for me. I've placed the order and it will arrive in 6 to 8 weeks. Looking forward to it. I will post pictures of my build after it's done.

Build finish but encountered "Failure to ignite" problem

Fellow 6.8 spc enthusiasts,

I finally finished my build and took it to the range about 3 times. I have broken in the WOA barrel with about 40 rounds. After about 50 rounds, the rifle now fails to ignite. When I pull the trigger, it seems that the firing pin strikes the primer but it made a small dimple. I examined fired primers and the "failed to ignite" primers and it seems
that the dimple sizes are different. Anybody encounterred problems like this before? Please help! I measured the overall length of the firing pin to be 3.276"

I would check your firing pin and then your trigger springs. If the hammer spring is backwards but still on top of the trigger springs like they are supposed to be then you can get inconsistent strikes. Don't ask me how I know this but I do. You can look at the firing pin to make sure it is not cracked or damaged in anyway.
