With the current administration in office our military will be lucky to stay status quo.Thats pretty cool, now only if our military would do the same...
...the article doesn't say that the Italian military is adopting 6.8 SPC. It only says the rifle can be converted to 6.8 SPC.Ahhh Beretta... Letting designers come before engineers.
Pretty cool that they're adopting 6.8 though.
Germany hasnt fared to well in recent conflicts either........Considering the Italians' military record in 20th century wars, I'm not so sure that it'd be worth bragging about even if they did adopt 6.8 SPC.
Now, if you can get the Germans to adopt it...
True, but that was mainly due to overambition, not to inability. There's no disputing the German advances in weapons technology.Germany hasnt fared to well in recent conflicts either........
Ditto.either way I am glad it can be converted.....
That's sorta my point. Their technology was so good that we copied it. We even bought their caseless ammo technology a couple years ago. If they decided 6.8 is good enough for them to adopt, the cartridge might arouse more interest in the US military.well we kicked thier asses twice and stole the technology....
Well look what the cat drug back....Ahhh Beretta... Letting designers come before engineers.
Pretty cool that they're adopting 6.8 though.
Given that the other two options (5.45x39 and 7.62x39) are "threat" cartridges sometimes used by Western special operations personnel, perhaps Italian SOF want the ability to use the other cartridge that is said to be field tested in the combat zones by SOCOM? Which reminds me, has there ever been official confirmation that 6.8 SPC actually is (or has been) used by American troops in Afghanistan and/or Iraq?I doubt Beretta just happened to accidentally create a 6.8. There is a reason for their efforts.
exactly, this wasn't done on accident, this is good for 6.8 people.I doubt Beretta just happened to accidentally create a 6.8. There is a reason for their efforts. And more importantly it is good news for 6.8 enthusiasts.
Now can we get a semi-auto version manufactured in Beretta's Maryland facility so enthusiasts have a chance at one?
