Hi everyone, New to Ar's, but I'm in the process of building a 5.56 and a 6.8 and was thinking of doing my 6.8 in a LWRC 16" carbine. Any thoughts or input on this upper? Any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated. I don't personally know much about LWRC rifles so any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I have spent time recently comparing LMT (which I now have in 5.56 on a Colt lower), Barrett ( which I now have in 6.8 REC 7) and the LWRC (which I researched a little but have never seen or used). They are all excellent quality as far as I know based on reviews and my personal use of LMT and Barrett. I ended up noticing two minor +differences: (1) I believe the LWRC requires removal of at least the top rail to remove the gas piston for maintenance and cleaning and the piston appears to have more parts, while the LMT and Barrett are a little easier to access. This should not be seen as big deal since LWRC probably takes 30-45 seconds more. If I am incorrect about this I am sure an experienced LWRC owner will correct me; (2) none of them are readily available but LWRC appears to be more available than LMT or Barrett based on offers on gunbroker, gunsamerica, etc. Hope this is helpful. I don't think you could go wrong with LWRC.

Hello,

From what you mention I assume that you only want a gas-piston (GP) upper. LMT is great, but fairly new. Barrett, of course is great, but very expensive and also quite new. Lastly, LWRC has been around the longest (with GP designed firearms), plus expensive.

So here are my thoughts; LMT and Barrett are great firearms but let them manufacture these firearms for a few generations to correct any issues with the piston design. I would personally get an LWRC. LWRC only makes GP firearms and has been doing for a long time. The only problems that LWRC has is MAKING ENOUGH FIREARMS. Seriously, I own several LWRC M6's both in 5.56 and 6.8 and they are solid, tought and just want die. So IMHO get an LWRC now, or wait for LMT and Barrett to run their designs long enough to correct any issues.

Before anyone crucifies me, Barrett has made the Rec7 for a couple generations but it still has problems. Barrett is new to 6.8's but not to 50's.

Hope this helps (Also Hi, I am new to the forum  )
