I am looking for a scope for my Noveske 16.1" recon. I know what I want but have no retailers near by to put hands on different brands. My list of desires. . . 8 or 10X fixed, no more than 42 objective lens, Mil Dot or similiar reticle and an $800 budget. I have a an aimpoint H1 on an offset mount, so I'm not worried about CQB. Most shooting with this scope 200-600 yards. Any personal experience with different scopes meeting these criteria would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard. The IOR 2.5x10-42 scope would be real nice fit for you, but I don't know if they still cost $799. The Leupold MK2 or PR series might also be in your price range.

For every thing you just listed, the best optic I think is the Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40 mildot reticle LINK just a great optic and a LaRue MOUNT TOO!!!!!!!!!

Next is the IOR 6x42mm with the MP-8 reticle. LINK I have used this optic on three very diffrent rifles, and it worked like a charm.

A diffrent direction, but fills the need is the Horus 3-12x50 Hawk. LINK I own one on my 18" SPR Ar-15 and LOVE THIS OPTIC!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I have been considering the accupoint and the IOR 10X42. I can't seem to find a retailer with the IOR in stock. The accupoint seems like a great choice; however, I was leaning towards a fixed option, to help simplify target acquisition.

If you have the extra cash, a Variable scope is always better than a fixed scope, unless you are just doing target shooting. A variable scope is great for hunting at the lower power.
