The best way to rough it!! Good luck on the deer.
Its due to our rich heritage regarding our WI Nov. 9 day gun deer season and more recently starting in the 80's our archery season being huge round here compared to most other states.Must be nice to have an early October deer season. I have to wait another month and a half.

No snow there as that was the last warm day and the back of the trailer has stayed closed since except to load up the quad to come home. I just got home from week one and head back up on Sunday. I shot my buck on Wednesday evening with about 15 minutes left and the bugger walked into the woods and turned left along the treeline, took 25 steps and disappeared into the camo of the brush on the ground. We could not find it within the 15 minutes of critical light and backed out till morning. I went back with the quad and looked for another 2 hours to no signs and went back to camp. Temps over night are in the low 20s so no problem. Went back in the morning and found him laying 60 yards from where he was shot but was missing the right rear hind quarter and right front shoulder. A big putty cat came in and had a banquet dinner on my big boy. Shot him with a Barnes 95g ttsx at 150 yards and put it just behind the shoulder. The bullet went clean threw and had a nice exit would but did not find a blood trail for about 25 yards and then it was real obvious. That was the 3rd buck that we shot within 150yards of each other that day.Is that snow in the picture? Great day It's still in the 90's down here...
X1 tag this yearDid you pull an X zone or just hunting a D zone.
Not in So Cal it's not. Opening day can be 90 degrees.Must be nice to have an early October deer season. I have to wait another month and a half.

What's to be fed up with? This is the first year since 1989, I will not be buying a Wi gun license. Plan on hunting out of state this year. Just fed up with Wi deer hunting in general.

I hunt Central Wisconsin. The Whitetail hunting is absolutely outstanding... more deer than you can shake a stick at. but if you stay in northern Wisconsin I definitely understand the frustration, between the DNR and the Wolves... it's a frustrating situation. For a few years I hunted up by Merrill, but that certainly won't happen anytime in the forseeable future again. This is the first year since 1989, I will not be buying a Wi gun license. Well, no tags where I live/hunt for past two years, the rigid 9 day season where many people can't get off work and the Dnr won't change season structure, the lawlessness I observe including driving ATVs through the woods, walking down marked roads ready to shoot as part of a deer drive, ect, the party atmosphere where the season is used as a reason to get drunk, even while hunting(I see people drinking while on breaks during deer drives every year), the wasted meat I see tossed on logging roads, etc. I see carcasses disposed where the back straps, some hams, etc are taken but most other meat is thrown out to rot. I hunt public land and the majority of deer I see are running. The deer seem to sit so tight because of pressure you rarely see any deer if you don't drive them. The attitude of other hunters where they have no problem sitting right next to you even though you were there before sun rise and were there before they arrive an hour after sun up and then try to cut you off instead of just going a 40 over. The new way they give tags in areas that have them to include public/private tags where you seem to be punished if not a landowner. I've hunted out of state in Wyoming for years and you rarely see another hunter, the deer are more relaxed and you seem to be able to actually hunt in a relaxed atmosphere. I get very upset on the law violations I see every year and the lack of enforcement as the Dnr is too busy to address it. I've been hunting the same area for about 7-8 years now and only ever seen one cop out there all those years and it was a county deputy. People bait when they shouldn't, normally with ATV trails right through the woods off trails. Hunters arguing over deer if it runs off and drops out of sight and another hunter gets to it first. Things like this generally turn me off enough that I get frustrated and don't enjoy myself. I could go on or elaborate on certain things but I think I've made my point. What's to be fed up with?
Welcome to the wonderfuul world of sport hunting! It is no different in Wyoming (Kemmerer is no different from what you describe), California or Texas. Get used to it. As for law enforcement? Get used to that too as they have a huge area to cover with fewer LEOs than most Police Departments.Well, no tags where I live/hunt for past two years, the rigid 9 day season where many people can't get off work and the Dnr won't change season structure, the lawlessness I observe including driving ATVs through the woods, walking down marked roads ready to shoot as part of a deer drive, ect, the party atmosphere where the season is used as a reason to get drunk, even while hunting(I see people drinking while on breaks during deer drives every year), the wasted meat I see tossed on logging roads, etc. I see carcasses disposed where the back straps, some hams, etc are taken but most other meat is thrown out to rot. Guessin your a gun deer hunter only, the archery season is a whole different experience in Wis., much more relaxing and enjoyable and all I hunt is public, I hardly see anyone and never while on stand. The deer are more relaxed during the 1st archery round before gun season.Well, no tags where I live/hunt for past two years, the rigid 9 day season where many people can't get off work and the Dnr won't change season structure, the lawlessness I observe including driving ATVs through the woods, walking down marked roads ready to shoot as part of a deer drive, ect, the party atmosphere where the season is used as a reason to get drunk, even while hunting(I see people drinking while on breaks during deer drives every year), the wasted meat I see tossed on logging roads, etc. I see carcasses disposed where the back straps, some hams, etc are taken but most other meat is thrown out to rot.
