I made it to the range today and chrono'd the following factory ammo. Tempurature was 75 F. alltitude 4000ft.
Firearms used were both LWRC's new guns with cold hammer forged barrels and salt bath nitraded finishes. Chamber is a spec II and twist is 1x10 six groove. They are an eight inch PSD and 14.7" M6A1.

1. SSA 85gr TSX combat load
PSD - 2661, 2650, 2699, 2688, 2693
Avg: 2678-1353
14.7" - 3037, 2996, 3051, 2949, 3023, 2989
Avg: 3007-1706

2. SSA 110gr Accubond combat load

I fired a handloaded Accubond from the 8" PSD at a little over 2200 fps and it expanded to almost .50" and retained around the low 90's in weight. It was fired in a five gallon water jug stuffed with newspaper. Constructor killed his elk at 375 yards with a muzzle velocity with this bullet of something like 2880? Anyone run the numbers on the JBM program to see what the velocity would have been at that range?

I'll tell you what will be a good weapon/ammunition combo is the combat 85gr TSX and the PSD. Running the numbers on JBM, I used a BC of .280 which is a wild ass guess, and assuming the hollow point will still expand at 2100 fps it gives a max performance range of over 300 yards and 1900 fps to 425 yards. Not to bad for an 8" barrel.

Oops! I used the JBM data with the 14.7" barrel instead of the 8". With the 8" the range for 2100 fps is still around 275 yards and for 1900 fps is around 350 yards. Still pretty good.
