Ok I'm working on my 6.8 project and I'm trying to decide on a rail system. MI rail looks to be heavier and bigger. I like the Troy MRF-R, but I'm looking at the Battlerail??? Their pic's suck. Looks like it has the continuous top rail, but no side rails??? Comes with 1 4" and 2 2" rails that you add to where you want???

I don't see much information on them.

anybody wanna throw me a bone here?

Looks like the Battlerail is lighter. Both are free floated. Do the MI and Troy have the same barrel nut lock down or is one better than the other?

thanks

The Troy Battlerails lock up to a standard barrel nut. The standard have rails at 12,3,6,9 o'clock while the extreme only have the 12 o'clock rail and bolt on sections of rail. I don't know much of anything of the MI handguards, but they're going to be heavier than the new Troy that are coming out (if I remember this right, the mid rail is about 13oz).

Troy says the 11" extreme rail is 7oz. By that measure, and because they have no special barrel nut to add to weight, the 9" should be just under 6oz and the 13 should be just over 8oz. I don't know how much their standard battlerails weigh, though.

The new troy TRX Extreme rails have started shipping. At least I just got notification that mine did. I also called them up and it seems you can attach the extra rail anywhere on the forearm that you want. For a lightweight rail, I think that would be the way to go. The reason I like my YHM custom rail is I only have rails where they are needed.

Does your MRF lock up well with no wiggles?
Troy seems to be sending the extreme rails to retail customers first but, I did receive 1 MRF.
somewhat heavier than the MI and YHMs but it does have a no spin feature.

What do the rest of you think?
It's a good looking rail, cheaper than Daniel Defense and locks to the receiver not just the nut.

I have an ARMS, GGG and a couple of Simson. the Simson is very similar to the Troy MRF(hence why they got sued) I like my Simson better than either one of the other 2. I'm leaning toward the Troy for my 6.8SPC and possibly putting a MI on my second upper. I think the Troy is lighter than the MI. I noticed that the diameter of the MI is larger than the Troy also.

I was looking at the Troy TRX extreme also, but I like having the rails already attached and length. It get's cold her in Ohio and I like that I can put rail covers on the rails and it's not as cold as the aluminum. I do like the smaller diameter of Troy. That is one thing with the rail covers on that I noticed about my AR10 SWS rail. With rail covers that thing is a monster. Heavy and thick as a softball it feels like.

The TRX battlerail is the same dia as the extreme but has 4 fixed rails
