I just found this:

http://www.lwrci.com/Technology/Why68mmSPC/tabid/91/Default.aspx

"The 6.8 x 43mm SPC round was developed to address the well known terminal performance problems of the 5.56mm M855 62gr "Green Tip" ammunition and its failure to rapidly incapacitate opponents in a timely and decisive manner.

6.8 SPC was designed and developed by warfighters for warfighters. The round was designed to give much better terminal performance than the 5.56mm round, without the increased recoil and the much larger weapon platform of the 7.62 x 51mm round. The 6.8 SPC has superior terminal ballistics out to 600 meters and yet can be easily adapted to the AR style platform. Thus, the 6.8 SPC combines the best feature of both the 7.62 x 51mm and the 5.56 rounds without either of their deficits.

We at LWRCI™ were ahead of the curve when we realized the incredible advantage the 6.8 SPC round gave the modern warfighter, LE Officer or serious sportsman. Couple this modern, effective and efficient round with the LWRCI™ short-stroke gas-piston design and you have a match made in Heaven.

The 6.8 x 43 mm SPC combines the best features of both the 7.62 x 51 mm cartridge and the 5.56 mm cartridge without either of their deficits.

Current accuracy, terminal ballistic, and operator testing indicates that the 6.8 x 43 mm SPC cartridge is extremely accurate and offers superior terminal performance and improved incapacitation capability at ALL ranges (0 to 600 meters) as compared to ALL available 5.56 mm ammunition.

With it's improved accuracy, lethality, and reliability, the 6.8 mm SPC is without question the optimum overall cartridge choice for military rifles and carbines."

This is what they have on their website about the 6.8 SPC!!!

it is probably SPCII 1-10.... I would like them to use a 1-11 like everyone else has been switching to.

Now that is really interesting. What chamber did the new barrel have ?
Like Marines said, 1x10 specII with Ni-Cor finish (fancy name for nitraded finish). None of my LWRC 6.8's show pressure signs with any of the SSA combat loads so they seem to work fine. They have all been 100% reliable. The new midlength barrel ejects brass to 3 o'clock with combat loads and 4 o'clock with lighter ammo.

The above is a good statement. Unfortunately, they followed it with one that is inaccurate:

6.8 SPC is a good alternative to 5.56 NATO, but to make false claims for it detracts from the credibility of its proponents.

Just caught an episode of Ultimate Weapons on The Military Channel and they had the LWRC M6 on there. They talked about the improved performance of the 6.8 over the 5.56 They rated it well on stopping power.

The weight, size and recoil of the 7.62 x 51 and the 5.56mm. The 6.8 has more power than the 5.56 with similar recoil, size is comparable. The 6.8 is lighter and smaller than the 7.62 x 51 and while it does not have quite as much power it is superior to the 5.56mm. This is not everything but definitely a good compromise.

Is that the one they use the 8 inch PSD model and do the attack on principle with it where he is shooting through the windshield of the limo?

Found that show last nigght also although I tuned in late and missed the LWRC I was hoping they had a 6.8 in the lineup but they never did a recap. they did have a KA It was the KA PWD that fired a 6x46 (I think) round that they made specifically for the rifle and then threw the FNPS90 in thier with its round that was supposedly made for it the 5.7x whatever. I don't get why they are making rounds tailor made to the gun. If they are in hopes of getting a .gov contract wouldn't that hinder the abbilities since it would have to have a specific ammo not readily made?

They also had ranked a H&K mp7 that had its own round for it a 4.6x something. I think it was the coolest of the ones I saw but again it was a weapon with a specific round made for it.
My wife though the corner shot was the coolest of them all and should have been ranked 1st instead of the KRISS sub.

I think you are thinking of the Future Weapons episode here. They didn't show much shooting but had a former Delta Force op talking about the deficiencies of the 5.56.

I believe this Ultimate Weapons originally aired in May of this year so it is fairly current.
