Hey guys I was just curious if we can have kiss thread for this topic? I know this questions comes across about once a month for what dies and reloading equipment ot get fort he 6.8.

I have just picked up a dillon 650 and only grabbed the 6.8conversion kit cause I know you guys said there dies dont work well for the 6.8.

So I would like to know what dies I need and where I can get the from. possibly with links?

And part of the conversion kit for the 6.8 from dillon has the shellplate, is that any good or do I need to get a different shell plate?

I have the Dillon 550b and the shell plate that they provided works fine, but I don't know if the shell plate is different for the 650. As far as dies, I don't think Dillon makes dies for the 6.8SPC yet. I have the RCBS and the Hornady and I like the Hornady a little better because I added the Micro-seating adjustment knob. I also have and recommend the Lee FCD Crimp Die. The easiest places to get these are directly from the manufacturers or just shop around. MidwayUSA is always a good place to start.

That's it. It makes it real easy to adjust your seating die to seat the bullets. Lets say you are setting up your seating die and it seats the bullet to 2.290" and you want to get to 2.260". With the micro seating knob, you just turn it .030" and it is right on. Without the micro seating knob it is more trial and error. The Micro Seating knob isn't absolutely necessary, but it is very convenient. And it works with all of the Hornady Seating dies, so I can remove it from my 5.56 Hornady Die and put it on the 6.8SPC Hornady Die.

Awesome I get why that micro die would be needed since there is a difference for mag OAL.

Thanks again for you help paulo!

Or for loading different bullets. If you are loading, say 90 gr TNT and want to change to 110 gr pro hunters, once you log your setting for both, you can go back and forth fairly quickly. My limited experience so far is that you still need to check the length after a change and tweek it a bit.
