...Is there an iPhone/iPod application that replicates the ballistics tables found elsewhere on this site?
If so, this could be VERY useful for certain social occasions when you can't pre-load all your load dope...

Thanks,
Pat

I've seen several on SnipersHide.
It's called Ballistic by Johnathan Zdzariski, it's a very good program it was 3.99 when I got it early on. DO NOT GET THE KAC SOFTWARE it was 11.99 when I got it and it is extremely inferior to Johnathan Zdzariski's program. It's in the app store or you can go directly to the website http://ballistic.zdziarski.com, it has lots of preloaded ballistic info for tons on factory rounds or you can build your own by plugging in all the necessary data. Don't know your bullet's BC? no problem this program can look it up! I have heard the program is much more expensive now but I would definitely pay $15 or even $20 for it, just the compare function is worth that. If I remember I will upload screenshots.

Side note, if you shoot with a shot timer there's an app for that by SureFire too!

the link works now, had the first I in the wrong spot.
I got that one, too. I paid 7.99 for my version. I saw three versions and picked one. It works great.
Casey, your link did not work for me. Is the link dead?

Thanks,

Fixed the link. There are 2 versions one is 7.99 the other is 19.99. I don't see the need for the HUD that the 19.99 version uses because I wont use this in the field.
Also if you would like to get actual wind readings from your location instead of NOAA there is a wind meter app for iPhone. Turn the microphone end into the wind and it will tell you the speed.

I have found it pretty accurate.
You gotta love technology these days... You could never have done these things for $10 or $20 a few years ago!
One of my frineds had it on his cell phone when he was using it for his M1A. It had everything on it. Temp in the area, elevation, wind speed, humidity, caliber, bullet weight and tons of everything else. I wish I knew which one he purchased. I guess there was a way to mount it to the rifle too.

I'm still torn over which version to get - the Ballistic 'basic', or the Ballistic FTE version?

Pat
Im using the KAC bullet flight program, its the one I would use, it has loads god good info... and a ton of bullet data from mfgs.

I would not go with any other product.

I agree that could be useful, although it brings to mind a truly hilarious mental image. Now no EBR will be complete without a mount for...an iPhone!

Thanks Cold-

Does anyone know if they have a version of this that will work with Blackberry?
I bought both the KAC program and the Ballistic program. I prefer the ballistic program because you can compare rounds, and you can even compare calibers. It also allows you to input as much data as you want and can use your location to get Natl Weather Service data for your area such as humidity, temp, wind speed (but can be inaccurate if nowhere close has good data real time) I paid $4.99 for Ballistic and $11.99 for BulletFlight, I have not seen many updates for the KAC program but it seems the ballistic program is always being updated with more info (bullet selection as well as factory loads, yes it has some 6.8 loads) The FTE version wouldn't be worth the extra just to have the heads up view in my opinion, I wont be using it in any true tactical situation and won't mount my phone to my rifle. It just doesn't make sense for me, if I need to know a drop chart I will memorize it or print it out.

I'd like to know as well!!! Any blackberry apps?

Me too!! got a new Blackberry Tour today. Any cool programs for them?
I got the full KAC Bullet Flight Military program for $29 which is supposedly in use in Iraq for my iPhone. I have gotten 4 free updates in the last year and am very pleased with it. It would be nice to adjust real BC from range data but being able to derive compensation for altitude, temp., and angle of shot makes up fo that. It does use the GPS data, plus closest weather station for conditions/altitude. You can override/update tat data too. I have seen it vary between two different weather stations, one which is 18 miles away and do not know why. It has all of the big bullet manufacturer data to select your bullet data from, just input the muzzle velocity, your gun data to save for call up and it will generate a range card in almost any yard increments.
I just checked and I have the 3.0.0 Military version and in reading it I may have the capability to calculate true BC with two different range readings. I guess it helps to read the manual (electronic). At this point I know of no application in the iPhone that lets me do a print out to my local printer. Pity.

That is a sweet looking program. Now if they just made it for the Blackberry we would be set. I don't think my wife will let me steal her Iphone.
