I just want to consolidate the intros in one thread. Can everyone please post your intro here so it is all in one thread instead of having several threads all over the place.
Welcome aboard Tony. If you want a muzzle brake, the best one right now is the PRI 6.8 brake. If you wait a month or so, Primary Weapons Systems is coming out with a brake/flash hider combo that will be the absolute best for the 6.8. If you just want a flash hider, the Smith Vortex is one of the best.OPFORguy said:Hello all. I found out about this site while searching for parts/info on AR15.com. I don't have an AR of my own yet, just the one Uncle Sam gives me to use at times in the reserves. I am looking to build one for deer hunting. Some friends think I'm nuts but, I think it would be a good "do all" whitetail rifle if set up properly. I hunt northern WI in late Nov and it gets cold. That is why I think the ACE stock would be good, won't have to put my face on cold plastic or alum. We do a lot of tree stand hunting and deer drives here. The 6.8 should be good on stand to 200 yds and nice to carry through the thick swamps and woods. I want to get an 18" pipe from KO-TONICS but, I don't know which would be the most practical hider/brake to put on it. I see many of you have expieriance with this. Something to keep the muzzle down for follow up shots would be nice but, I don't want to blow any ears out with the increased report from many brakes. Any suggestions would be great. I want to do this right the first time, and all options to be practical for a whitetail slayer.
Thanks in advance for any pointers you can give me.
Tony

Finally found a forum that strictly surrounds the 6.8SPC. I do won 3 6.8SPC rifles and enjoy shooting this kick ass round. Also, I do own the 6.5 Grendel which is by far my favorite AR cartridge. Before anyone slams the Grendel, I am neutral between the two since they both have their won purpose. I hope to gather new information from this forum especially from the reloaders.
Best regards!
Welcome aboard. I also like the 6.5Grendel and I believe they will both stay around for a long time.thmpr said:All,
