I recently received a slightly used Stag upper in 6.8. I've been reading here regarding the different chambers for the 6.8 and how Stag initially offered a standard SAAMI chamber in their earlier runs and that they have since changed to an "improved" SAAMI chamber. My intention was to wait until my upper arrived and use a serial number to provide to Stag in hopes they could identify what I had. It turns out I can find no serial number...just the stamp "Stag Arms 6.8 spc 1-10" on the barrel.

Anyone here able to identify what I have or offer up any other identifiers I can relay to Stag? If I have an earlier unit, what can I safely load? :?

You have the 1:10" SPCII Chambered barrel. You are good to go. The only Stag Barrels that had the SAAMI Chambers were the very few first ones years ago.

I bought my 6.8 MM 2 years ago, Which chamber do I have? I got an email from Stags and they said I got: Your barrel is SAAMI SPEC 2. What do they mean about SAAMI SPEC 2. Can you explain the whole SAAMI SPEC 2 for me? I thought SAAMI was one thing and SPEC 2 was a different thing! Sorry for my ignorance.

SAAMI is the tight chamber.
SPCII is the chamber with the longer throat.
You have the good chamber.

SAAMI is the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute. They establish a uniform set of production parameters for the manufacturing industry.
