I feel like I'm cheating on my 6.8s

After long consideration I have decided to replace my everyday carry gun from my 12.5" 6.8 to something shorter. The 12.5" is almost 14" with the linear comp and very handy in and out of vehicle and atv but with the supressor it becomes a long gun . I seriously debated a 8.5" 6.8 but decided to go .8.5" 300 bo instead . With supressor it is almost the same length as the 12.5 " w l c . Most of my shooting is at opertune varmints around the properties I'm on every day and during the spring and summer 150 yards is a long shot . For that purpose I'm willing to give up some power to be able to stay short and go quieter . I'm pretty sure the 125 and 195 cavity back bullets will do anything I need to do . Don't worry I have not gone over to the dark side and come deer season I'll be packing one of my 6.8 s.

I'm setting up for a frugal 300 BO build for the very same reasons.
I have:
VLTOR MUR-1A upper receiver
BCM BCG
BCM GF Mod 4 CH
Spikes Tactical buffer assembly kit {T2}
Wilson Combat LPK w/o Trigger
Geissele SSA Trigger
Spikes Tactical Honey Badger lower receiver
Magpul CTR stock
Daniel Defense gas tube

I have to quit frackin' off and figure out:
Rail
Suppressor
Barrel

Or spend part of the kids' inheritance on the DDM4 300S URG.

I don't mind spending extra to get better but if less $ does the same I am not going to waste $ . In 6.8 I don't think $ can get better than ARP . ARP doesn't do 8.5" .300 so I went with AR15 parts . Com . I have one of their 20" stainless .223w and a 18" fluted . 223 w barrels and both shoot less than moa at 200 yds . Hopefully their . 300 is as good . I don't plan on hanging a lot of extras on my handguard so I ordered a matrix slim m lock from Jim Bob .$ 50 something . 4x 12 scope for working up loads then red dot for carrying .

Dave S, if you don't have a suppressor already, you have plenty of time to figure things out.

CTR stock? Are you going SBR or 16" barrel?

The biggest mistake a 300 BO owner can make is not getting a pistol gas length if you want to shoot subs reliable.

Unlike the 6.8, the BO doesn't need an adjustable gas block. It just doesn't have enough gas even with supersonic loads.

Roger That. I'm going with someone's under 11" barrel and DD pistol gas tube.

I really do want the DD barrel. My two 16" DD 5.56 barrels from Primary Arms [07-077-09173-018] are absolute art work when hitting them with my Hawkeye bore scope.
The FN 16" barrel from Primary Arms [20-100041], not so much... at fracking all. The FN bore looks medieval, especially around the gas port looks like this critter got ahold of it:

I also have +12K CCI 450, +16lbs of 300 BLK from 3rd Gen Supply last FEB, and +1K of S/Sub CBB & Maker pills.

Hey, I found a Spikes Tactical Lothar Walther 10" CHF barrel for $330 at Optics Planet.
That and a 9-10" Daniel Defense MFR XL will get my butt moving.

ozarkspug!!! What can I send you for getting me back on track with my build?
Two brand new D&H black teflon mags from Palmetto State?

EDIT: I see that I bought 100 mags 21NOV18 @ $6.99ea. How about 3 mags
in a Like New Alice Mag Pouch w/clips? Man, I'm pumped for picking out the suppressor
and get my Stamps paid for.

Sounds like you got a good deal on the mags . As x man said . 300 is probably not going to need an adj block . If mine is a little under gassed I have a 5" Spikes tube/spring / buffer on a lower that is too week for my 6.8 I will try . X man is the person to listen to as for as bullet performance . I believe he has mentioned the . 300 being the way to go with short barrel and sub and he is as big of fan of the 6.8 as I am .
Wow on the primers , they are scarse as hens teeth around here . I'm looking into color coding my different uppers and mags. May look into the gun wraps . Even though the dust cover is marked with caliber and so were magazine my nephew managed to load and fire s .223 in my 6.8 . No harm done but a .300 in a .223 is bad news . I'm leaving 6.8 black doing .223 green ( because I have a green Ruger .556 ) and Bo brown or grey .

I have a faxon 8.5 that out shoots my 10yr old balistic 8.5. I have tried adjustable blocks to find they stay wide open so useless. Mine runs all loads reliably with a failsafe bcg, spikes T2, JP Spring. Tried a lightweight carrier but could not get it run both subs and sups wo atleast 1 ftf. Fyi: Carolina munitions subs will leave your rifle looking like the inside of my cummins tailpile in 10 rounds. Plus your suppressor will sound like a maraca with all the crap powder!!!
