Homeless find Homes

seems a sudden influx of homeless folks shut down post office branches during evening hours. they claim to have a plan to "get rid" of the poor folks, hope it ain't a big trap baited with cheese and a huge toilet to flush them.

Seriously, there are a lot of empty jail cells around. At least they could be warm in winter and easily kept track of for identification purposes. Most homeless people have mental and emotional issues as the cause of their condition. Whole bunch of them are vets, too.

There are 3 people that stand at the interstate intersection above my house with "homeless, God bless"signs. They stand there all day, then go to a nearby convenience store to get a case of beer, then go by McDonald's for food. They then go to their tent in a wooded section in the interstate median, and eat and drink.

This really pisses me off. People coming off I95 don't know they are fakers, and fall for their Sh!t. They are bold, and sometimes get mouthy when they don't get money. Police won't do anything, and this has been going on for six months. Some may have mental problems, but some are just damn sorry!
A number of years back, a community on the east side of Lake Washington (from Seattle) called "Mercer Island"... is a well-heeled (money wise) community of folks. This is a higher end of property/homes. So, a story hit the local papers of someone calling in to report that a "couple" seen pan-handling at the on-ramp to the local freeway (I-90) for a period of time, were (in fact) some of their neighbors (people calling in the report). Yeah, they were there, begging for hand-outs (instead of working), and making enough (tax-free) income to support having a home in that community. Let's just reference it as follows: if living in Seattle (proper) costs you $450K to buy a home, this area is more in the range of $750K to own a home.

I was robbed (for $20) at knife point when I was 18yrs. old when I chose to "help" someone with a hard-luck tale (hadn't eaten in three days... blah-blah-blah...) and took them to a deli to buy them a sandwich. The "thank you" for my concern/help was to snatch my $20 from my hand and then pull a knife on me when I went to nab them as they bolted for the door. I wasn't going to die for a $20 (although, in 1978, $20 was a chunk of change for an 18 yr. old). I got my CCW when I turned 21, and I do NOT project a welcoming air about me when those types are eyeballing me to ask for money.

The greater Seattle area is a hot-bed for these "homeless". In fact, one area (near the interstate) is know as "The Jungle". Very high crime rate, and paramedics responding to calls there KNOW... you do NOT kneel down around there, you're liable to put your knee down onto a used/dirty needle if you do. There are continually growing piles of trash/waste cluttering the areas these folks are. They USED to try to be discreet and remain out of sight. Today? Bold/brazen/"in your face" as they beg for money. Many of them are obviously able-bodied people who could (at a minimum) get a job working a shovel. These types flood our area, due to the libtard mentality of Seattle and know they can get a bunch of freebies.

Squatters

Going thru this now with a relative.......... It sure seems the criminals are OVER PROTECTED and the victims have to continually fight for what IS THEIRS. Got Dam! VOTE!
Several years back heard of the "homeless" making over $300 a day by "panhandling" on off ramps in the I-5 corridor of Tacoma-Everett.
i certainly don't fit into the bleeding heart catagory, but i know there are truly homeless people. and i know that many of them are Vets. one local guy, who never panhandles rents a small storage building and him and his dog live in it at night. he walks the streets but never begs, and has no signs. when he's in the neighborhood, which isn't often, i give him dog food for his companion. i have never offered him food or money because he has a look that tells me not to do so, he would not appreciate anything for himself. he's a wrecked person, but he is getting by without begging for handouts. Live Free or Die eh?

don't paint with too wide a brush, not everyone is in the scam. didn't start this topic to slam homeless, but to explain why my local post offices close at night. people are staying in the lobby to keep out of the weather, no reports of them panhandling or begging, just a place to stay safer. certainly not a "security situation" at the present time
I know that not all homeless are bad people, and the number of homeless veterans is surprising. The rock group "Five finger death punch" has a video called "Wrong side of heaven" that is VERY sobering. Even if you don't like rock music, I recommend you watch this video. It'll stay in your head for a long time.
Local estimates put panhandling at about $80k for the better areas. Tax free.
Most panhandlers I see look like their eating well. But the ones that really bother me is a woman and child. If not legit, what a disgusting thing making your child participate in. I don't give money to panhandlers. There's plenty of social programs to help these people.

My folks worked with a food bank and ran into one that was panhandling and he would "borrow" his sister's kids to stand out with a sign asking for help/donations.
